Favorite Work ...
After I got over the fact that BR has changed its fit models and I am not a 6 in this ... but rather an 8, these shirts have become my absolute favorites. They definitely run TIGHT IN THE BUST so size up. But they launder beautifully and look super elegant and polished all day long. A+.
Beautiful work shirts but be careful with sizing!
I HIGHLY recommend going to the store to try these on. After looking at the online reviews, I planned on sizing up from my normal 2 to a 4, but when I tried on the ... store, I actually needed a size 0! I am 5'3 118 lbs and I wear a 32C bra. I barely fit in the bust in the ... but I have to say, it doesn't gape or pull. The only thing is that it might be hard to lift my arms over my head, but I don't plan to be doing that too often in this ... being said, the shirts are gorgeous. I got them in blue glow, light pink, cranberry, and a purple and white stripe that they don't seem to have online. The fit is great (although a teensy bit long in the sleeves but I have short arms) and I look forward to wearing these great shirts to work. After a long year or two of not finding anything I like at BR or being disappointed, these shirts are old style BR and I couldn't be more pleased. Keep up the good work!
Closet staple
Looooove this ... May want to try it on for the bust. But it fit me nicely (34B/C), although I'll probably still use double sided tape, just in case. I've been looking for a long time for a long sleeve button down that buttons all the way up. It seems like few stores carry a basic button down that buttons all the way up. Anyway, a MUST have for work.
Tight and Tailored
I am 5'3, with a 34 B/C cup and I normally wear a size 2 in BR suit jackets, although I have to wear their petite pants. I can never wear petite shirts because the chest is always too tight, and the shoulders are too narrow. I thought I would find a better fit with these shirts. For the most part this ... works. The 0 was too small in the chest, but great in arm length, although I have rather long arms for my height. I was worried the 2 would be too long in the arms and look baggy. But, to my surprise the 2 was just fine in the arms and the chest had more room. My biggest complaint is that this ... not very long. I prefer to tuck my shirts in; so for this ... so slim and quite flattering due to it's tailored design, I expected the length to accommodate being tucked into pants/skirts. It doesn't come undone too much, but longer length would be nice. Overall nice ...
Great ...
This ... beautiful . The fabric has a nice feminine sheen to it that keeps it from looking like a man's button down. It's very classy and comfortable. The material is soft and does not irritate the skin. I wear it with pants/skirt suits for work; or just with a pair of nice jeans when I go out. The overall fit is very flattering. I'm 5'3 (110#, 34 C) and the size 2 Regular fits me perfectly, even with my really long arms. I'm a size 2 Regular in BR suits jackets as well. The one con is that it's just a little shorter than I prefer for a tuck in dress ... However, it does has the right cut at the bottom in order for it to be left outside, but I rarely wear my shirts hanging out. If it were a little bit longer in the ... tail it would probably stay tucked a little better.
Very Pretty
This is a nice, crisp office ... perfect for work. It has a bit of a sheen to it, which makes it slightly more feminine. I normally wear a size six in other stores, but I took the advice of reviewers and purchased a four. Four is perfect, except that the sleeves are a little short. I'm 5'7 with long arms, so this is a common problem for me. However, the sleeves aren't *too* short, just a little shorter than expected. I would recommend this ... friends, but it does hang a bit stiff in places. (This is common for non iron shirts.) Also, I would recommend that Banana Republic work on shirts that define the waist a little better.
Love this ...
I have this ... short sleeve version and have loved it. Runs only slightly small--especially through bust. Otherwise, true to size. Only problem is, availability of other colors in both long and short sleeve. They seem to run out quickly!
Rich colors; still professional
Beautiful, rich colors. The ... fits me nicely. Maybe a bit loose in the waist area, but I don't like shirts to be too tight because I'm a professor standing in front of students for hours. I'm especially happy that the sleeves are long enough. I'm 5'8" and sometimes long sleeves are not quite long enough. I will buy one in another color.
trade off between tight bust and loose waist
I'm about 5'5, 100lbs and 32A . I usually wear size 0. But for this ... tried size 0 in store and it was a bit too loose pretty much everywhere except in the chest area. Then I oredered size00 online and it fits very well in the shoulder, back and waist...but too tight in the bust. The sleeves were also too long with both sizes and very tight in the wrist ( and I have VERY skinny wrists). I also noticed a difference in the quality of the fabric between the ... tried on in store and the one I bought online. They were both white shirts but the one from online had noticeably thinner fabric and didn't look as 'smooth' and shiny as the in store one. Overall I think this is a decent ... wear for work (especially considering I bought it during a sale). I just hope BR have better quality control and listen to the cusomers to improve on the fittings.
Tweaks needed for dress ...
Overall, the ... fits well; better than many of the dress shirts I have tried from various brands. The chest area fit well. However, the ... sleeves are too roomy and rather long.
BR and women sizes
BR offers Big men sizes but then sizes womens’ clothes too small so that you have to go up a size and hope it does not shrink, VERY SEXIST!
