I tried on the 27R at the store and they were a little snug to wear to work and very long. So, I ordered the 27S online and they fit great. They were not as tight for some reason and the length did not require alterations. I like dark rinse ... these fit the bill. I'm 5'3" and 115lbs. I'm also a swayback and these don't gap in the back like most ... do. Definately a keeper! PS. A lot of other women did not like the thin material, but that's the style right now. I'm 40 and I don't want to look like the kids, but these are a ladylike version of the ... styles that are out.
Curvy no more
I actually went to the store to try on these new ... Curvy (or urban fit) have been my favorite for years as they fit women with curves very well. In past seasons I always bought a size 4--every season--this new season of ... has put me into a size 8 now in curvy and a 10 in regular bootcut and I have not gained any weight. The material on this particular pair is very thin as well...not the normal blue ... material. Needless to say, I was very disappointed: in the selection as well as fit even though BR is touting "the new blues...the new denim collection". Disappointing quality and fit--I'll go back to Jcrew for my ... thank you.
BR Hates Curvy Women!
Wow! Take a look at these reviews, Banana Republic! After years, literally years, of struggling to find ... fit and looked good, I, like many women, came upon the Urban fit ... heaven! No gap in the waist, yet fit well through the hips and thighs. Finally i had denim that consistently worked for me. But then some genius in their design department must've decided that curvy women aren't worth making clothing for because they must be fat or unattractive and BR changed their "curvy" denim to the piece of junk that arrived at my house today. What a joke. Thin denim, and I could barely fit the ... over my thighs. I even went up a size from my normal and still no luck. Thanks for giving me and women everywhere a complex about our bodies, Banana Republic. I am seriously considering boycotting BR altogether. BRING BACK URBAN FIT ...

You used to be a store where the ... always fit and I loved them. I'm very sad you got rid of ... everyone. What is up with changing your sizes as well? You are not the expensive designer ... These pants are too small. I ended up keeping a pair out of sheer desperation, but I think this will be my final purchase of the "urban" jean.The fit is really bad. Go to Levis, they have nicer ... fit adult women and they are half the price!

Not What I Expected!
I usually love purchasing jeans form BR. I have a dark washed boot leg pair of jeans that I wore for the past 5 years and I still receive compliments. However these jeans just don't fit well. I'm am 5'9" and I always purchase a 34 inseam without a problem. BR advertised the 12 regular with a inseam of 34" but it seemed much shorter. I was afraid if I washed the jeans it would shrink and look like a 30" inseam. In addition, I did not like the style of the pockets. I thought I would be able to wear it to work with a blazer but it's not sophisticated enough to dress up and look professional. I was very disappointed so I returned it.
Waist really small
These ... great weight denim for everyday, and the short length is perfect for me (I'm 5'2" but have long legs for my height). However, the waist was so tight when I put them on, I could barely breathe, much less sit down. A shame because they fit well in the rear, hips and legs, and were especially flattering to the rear end. I'll try the next size up (an 8) only because I like them so well. But be warned, BR, if you make a habit of forcing women to buy a size larger in ... than they normally wear, they will stop buying your ...
Straightforward jeans, as expected
These are comfortable jeans with a nice fit - I am very skinny, so actual "skinny jeans" look awkward on me, and these "straight" jeans are a good alternative. The color is nice, but I agree that the fabric could be higher quality. They are a little loose in the rear, but again, I am skinny, and I find that most jeans are a little looser in the rear than I would prefer. I also agree that they run on the small side - I can sometimes wear a 25, but went with the 26 for these jeans. I am 5'4'' and the short length is about right with flat shoes.
40 something year old desperate for the right jeans
I thought I had finally found my jeans. The Urban and the Classic straight leg in a long length and dark color. But it was not to be. You discontinued them! And you even wrote ?customer favorite? beside the remaining odd sizes you have on clearance. If that?s so, why get rid of them? They were great jeans that were long, well made, not flared at the bottom, not cut so low that your belly hung over the front and your bottom peeked out the back. But most importantly they had a waist that was realistic!!! What is up with the tiny waist on jeans these days!? I?m not fat at all. But I?m 43 and I don?t have the waist of an 18 year old anymore. I returned the jeans I just ordered because they fit great everywhere but the waist. Mom?s need jeans too. Mom?s like to look a little trendy too. Mom?s shop at Banana Republic a whole lot more than 18 year olds! Take note or you will lose more customers with plenty of money like me. Think about it?.grown women with money looking for clothes that fit?or the young crowd with sporadic money looking for name brands like Abercrombie. What demographics are you aiming for?
Not very happy with these
Run small. I have been finding that any of the slimmer looking fits (not trousers) are running small this season. I really don't understand the thinking behind making women buy a larger size :( I have been buying my pants from Banana for the last 8 years and have ordered the same size. I still fit into my size 8 Banana ... 4 years ago and now I have to order a size 12??? I took them back out of principle. p.s. I have not gained any weight either. The slimmer fit is great but please make them true to size.
Please bring back the old denim
I too share in the frustration of the "new denim." The girl at the store was so excited, and I'm sorry to say I was just annoyed. I LOVED the classic straight and skinny jeans before- they were the perfect fit. I felt like Banana had taken my picture and designed the jeans for me. I could wear them dressed up, or could cuff the bottoms and pair with flip flops and a t shirt. I took the size 6 in the new jeans back to the dressing room, and could barely button them! And, they were super low cut...sorry but my mid drift days are over. I don't know about you ladies, but I don't like going up a size. I work hard in the gym, and don't need a pair of jeans telling me my butt is still big. ;)
If you have hips and a butt, this is not for you
These ... not for women who even have a slight butt or hips-- this is for tall, skinny, angular women. The legs fit me fine but as I approached my butt, these ... said "No, uh uh, not you." And I'm not even that big (I'm a size 8-10). But I like my butt and my hips and these ... obviously not for women who have womanly bodies. Banana Republic: who do you make ... Women with underdeveloped bodies? Women who better resemble 12 year olds???
