awesome pants with slim ...
i bought this pair of pants to go with the matching wool blazer. The ... really great, just like all other Martin ... pants. The price is a bit high, but with a coupon or during BR promotion, it is actually a great deal considering the material - WOOL (less chance for wrinkles). If other BR martin pants work well for your body type, this pair of pants would also work, possibly even better. I recommend buying them in the same size as your other BR martin pants.

These pants are AMAZING!!!!!!!! BANANA REPUBLIC, PLEASE NEVER CHANGE THESE PANTS & PLEASE NEVER STOP MAKING THEM!!!!!!!!!! BR, you will always have a loyal customer in me if you keep making these pants as they are. Please make them in as many colors as possible. These are a classic wardrobe staple. I am 25, 5'10, and wear a 12 Tall, and it is very difficult for me to find pants that ... great. These pants are remarkable. I would say that they ... very true to size because I wear a 12 in everything else. I just bought about 4 new pairs of these and they are amazing. I'm a healthcare professional and I wear trousers almost every day in the office, so I require several pairs. In addition, I wear them out to nice dinners, etc. Ladies, I have tried every brand out there... and finally the search is over for the perfect pants; these offer the style, quality, durability, flattering ... comfort that I need for work and play. These are true quality trouser dress pants. My legs are 35in inseam so I am going to get a couple of pairs hemmed so that I can sometimes wear flats; the others I will leave as is so that I can wear heels (it's nice to have the option!!) Banana Republic, I should note that I bought 1 pair of martin ... suit pants in 2007 with the exact same material makeup as the ones I just bought (tag says martin ... stretch, same size, and exact same materials as the ones I just bought) but the ones I just bought have a FAR superior cut and ... ones I bought in 2007. The ones I bought in 2007 had a narrow waistband and do not ... like the ones I just got. I love the wider waistband and ... ones I just got so much better!!! The ones I just got ... like the martin ... pants I used to buy back in the day (before and up until 2005ish) and fell in love with!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for going back to the best and listening to your customers!!!!!!!

SPECTACULAR PANTS
I don't understand some of the reviews saying that because they ordered their regular size in this ... small...that they are going to send them back and never buy them again. Seriously? Sure it might be a little blow to the ego, but let's be reasonable. It's the cut, style, and look of the pants that matters, not the size. If this ... too small or too short in your regular size and/or length, the solution is to order a size up or longer length and get them tailored to ... perfectly. I'm sorry, but the cut and style of this ... spectacular. I, too, have a few pairs in 2 different sizes that ... same ... but I could care less. Why?...Because they all look amazing and that's what matters, not the size tag on the inside of my pants. That's why you have to try clothing on; it's not a new thing in any brand for pants of the same size to be smaller or looser than another pair. Plus, almost all quality high end garments require tailoring for a customized ... example, for me the regular length is too short and the tall length is too long (I have a 34.5in inseam), so I order the tall and get them hemmed to the exact length that I need; the result is perfection. I wouldn't give up on these pants if the size you order is off; exchange them for a different size... you'll be happy you did. Thanks again Banana Republic, keep up the great work with this ... keep the cut and style the same...they are #1 in my book.

My perfect suit ...
Before trying on these pants in my local BR store, I read the reviews here and was a bit concerned about what I might experience in the dressing room. NOT SO! These pants ... me perfectly! I am 5'7" 120 lbs and wear either a 0 or 2. I've worked in the clothing retail industry in the past and fully understand that different cuts of pants ... differently. In this case, I purchased the size 2 after trying both a 0 and 2 on - I didn't want a tight ... - these are suit pants, by the way, and meant to look professional! I also bought the matching suit jacket and the pencil skirt - all in a size 2. If you are purchasing straight off the website and unable to try them on - I recommend you go with the larger of your normal sizes, or to be safe, order both and return the one you don't like. Enjoy!

Nice lined pants!
These pants look great and are long enough to wear with heels! I'm 6 feet tall and it's wonderful to find pants long enough for us tall ladies. These pants are very professional looking and hang nicely. I did have to buy a size larger than my normal size, but otherwise great purchase.

Great pants to wear to work every day
I love these pants! I have many pairs and my only real complaint is I wish they had more colors of the traditional suit style (not the linen ones for summer or the sateen ones as I don't care for those as much and find their sizing to be much smaller). I much prefer the suit pants. They are truly all season dress pants. They look dressy with heels and a nice blouse or more casual with sandals. I am currently wearing a size 10 with a belt as I have found the size 8 is a tad snug. It seems to have a short rise and pulls a little across the pelvic area. I wear a size 8 dress pants at similar stores so I think BR must cut these a little on the small size. But once you find your correct size, I highly recommend them. I can wear them 2 times before drycleaning and they always look nice. They seem to wear well.

Perfect black work pants
I just purchased these online to match the black suit jacket that I bought last April...I figured I might as well still buy them while I could to match (I already own the matching pencil skirt). The whole pants suit looks great! I love the suit with the skirt, but it's also great to have the versatility of a pants suit and knowing I can pair anything in my closet with the pants as well makes it win win. I cannot understand all the sizing complaints - I've been wearing size 6 martins for YEARS so I ordered the same and they ... perfectly. Perhaps those of you who are finding you need to go up 1-2 sizes have actually gained weight. I can't see how this is BR's fault when I've never changed size in the pants (and my weight has been stable). High quality work ... office (highly recommend pairing with the blazer).

Small girl finds great pants
The Martin fits best for me because I am 5'4", 110 with a full butt and small waist. I can't find pants at any other store that have a small enough waist with ample room in the butt and still look professional. I wear the 00, I find the petites to be too small in the crotch depth and too short. Petites in BR are for seriously small people, if your shorter than 5'4" the petites would be a good hem length for you. Most pants from other stores are too low cut. This is why I love the Martin pants, they run smaller in thighs and waist but have ample room for a full butt and long crotch depth. I think they are most fitting for the petite curvy girl, If you have a small butt and straight lines try another style. Love Love Love the smaller ... its the only ... can find that is small enough for me, unfortunately most companies vanity size there pants then it leaves us smaller people swimming, keep the smaller ... BR.

Love the pants, longer than the ones I tried in the store, belt loops are a bonus
I have a couple pairs of Martin ... pants, and this is the first pair I will have to have altered to make about 3/4 inch shorter. I am 5'7" and have always been able to wear regular length BR pants off the rack. I tried these on in the store and they were perfect with a 2" heel, but these ones are just too long. I debated sending them back and seeing if they would send me a different pair that would maybe be the right length, but I'll just pay the $20 to get them altered instead (hate getting pants altered). They would have been 5 stars if I didn't have to alter them. I am a slim pear shaped gal and these pants ... great, and the lining makes the pants nice and sleek, no bumpy bulges on the behind. I got these with the blazer to wear as a suit, and this is one of the only suits I found that you can wear a standard belt with, which in turn, is what I attach my gun to. So, ladies who wear guns to work, I highly recommend a BR suit!

Love the Martin ...
I recently dropped pants sizes through my exercise program and repurchased these pants in a smaller size. I loved them in size 10 (which was little large on me, but appropriate for work) and bought them in a much more fitted size. A size 8 would have probably been a better ... previously, but I'm not always comfortable with fitted pants for work. I find these pants to be comfortable, versatile, and very flattering. I'm tall and have long legs and tend to wear the slacks with flats or very low heeled shoes. Wearing higher heels I would probably need a longer inseam.

Well, I purchased these pants in my usual size 12, but when I got them they were too small. I exchanged them for a 14. I agree with the other reviewers about the sizing being off on these pants as I have purchased pants from BR for years and not has this issue until this year. Someone in quality control at Banana Republic needs to step up to the plate to make sure the sizing/cut is consistent. I really enjoy the material and love that they are lined unlike some other well known brands.

BEST ... EVER!
These are the best fitting ... High quality, thick material that hugs the body without pulling and puckering. Flattering for women with curvy bodies. Flare leg elongates the legs. I own two pairs and am coming back for more every season. BR, keep making these - they are fantastic!

great look but not for my body type
I thought the material was great and the whole style could have been pretty flattering, but it didn't ... my bum and thighs too well. I think because the material is stretchy material, the ... tends to stick tightly to your curves. However, even after losing my pregnancy weight, the size 6 was incredibly tight (possibly because of extra stretchy flesh around my tummy and hips). However I tried the 8 as well and it still hugged my bottom and waist very tightly. I tried the 10 and it was too baggy. I found that none of the 6, 8, 10 sizes ... way I wanted around my hips and waist. I think these ... would ... adorably on women with a nice butt shape or even a flat butt. Its too bad this style wasn't for me.

Nice work trousers
As a man with a booty and womanly hips, I have a hit and miss experience with women's trousers. These are very much a hit. They are very flattering to my shape, especially in the rear. The subtle stretch also makes them quite comfortable. The slit pockets are very shallow (just for show, I guess), so it's necessary to carry a purse when wearing these, but that's not an issue for me. A very nice ...

Fits great, but too short
I love the ... these ... - they're super flattering in the waist and rear, and they seem like they're made of good quality material. But the 10L is too short - it did not come with the advertised 36" inseam. I'm 5'10", and I measured my inseam at 35" - these ... don't touch the ground when I'm barefoot. That was disappointing, since it puts any heel height at all out of the question, and they're almost too short even for flats, and the shortness is accentuated by the flare. I wish my BR still carried tall sizes in the store, as I probably would not have bought them if I had known how short they would be. Just a heads up to the tall women.

shrink, shrink, shrink
I completely agree with the previous posts; these ... shrink like crazy! They were perfect when I got them and now I can't wear them anymore because they are so short. They don't even touch the top of my shoes anymore, which means they have shrunk a good 3 inches. Love the ... though; my panties don't show and I can move in every direction. Very flattering for curvy women, but beware of the length!

Don''t Bother...Total waste of money!!!
Be aware....these ... shrink 2 to 4 inches EVERY time you have them dry cleaned. They are a complete waste of money. I would consider buying these if they were less than [$]. I love BR and have never had a problem, however, when I reported this issue the company was less than responsive. These ... very poor quality and become total wrinkle balls too....the other sloan ... better option. Do not buy these, because after 2 cleanings they will be more like capri pants....seriously.

Tall women come in all shapes and sizes.
Please make tall ... size 0. Just because a woman is tall does NOT mean she is bigger. Tall women come in all shapes and sizes, just like average and petite women. Also, it would be FANTASTIC if you would start selling your tall clothes in the store - especially since you sell petite clothes in the store already. Tall women already suffered for years and years not being able to find anything at all (you can hem a ... too long, but you can't extend a ... too short, yet petite has been around for ages!) - now that clothes are available to actually ... us, it would be awesome to be able to try them on in the store instead of waiting 5-9 business days to see how they look with all the other clothes we can purchase same day at the store. Thanks! PS THANK YOU for making these ... long and lean people, they are SO perfect. They don't hug me too tight because unfortunately I don't have a lot to hug. I used to look like I was SWIMMING in my suit ... Now they look just right! And for [$] you can't go wrong. I wish BR would offer ... 00S
I called BR and was told their ... never come in 00S. I don't understand why women with 00 for waist and hips would either have very short legs(30in for petite) or very long legs(33in for regular). I'm 5'3'' and 31in fits perfectly with low mid heels, 32in fits perfectly with mid high heels. End up getting a 0S but have to always wear a belt. The rise is a little too low to use a belt comfortably. I love the straight leg ... though -- it's just right!

Easy wearing comfortable fabric and zipper pockets a major plus
I was a little wary of skinny trousers as I have big hips and a sometimes unfortunately full rear. I work in a high end women's shoes and accessories store and sometimes I have to be aware of how conservative some of our customers are. But, some days I just don't care and a lot of my clients like to see how well presented our shoes can be when paired with the right outfit. This is a big winner for me. I love the zipper pockets because I can put very important things I have to have with me all day in them and not worry about losing them. I love the stretch fabric as well as the higher waistband that prevents any "crack" mishaps. If you aren't afraid of your curves, pair this with a high collared tuxedo shirt and some dangerous looking patent peep toe pumps. These also translate from day to night looks with ease as well. Very versatile, very comfortable, very flattering, very well done.

The Martin ... gift for so many women!
The ... Martin ... consistently so great. I had to order one size up for the skinny ... but again it works so well as a cut. The rise is perfect, not too low and not too high - I wish that I could get every possible style of ... color in a Martin ...

FINALLY Skinny ... CURVY women!!!!!
Okay so I am not someone who writes reviews, I normally read them. But I actually bought these ... store and they were funny enough on sale?!? Anyhow, I was in the store, and I said to myself "Let's see if my SIZE 14-WIDE HIPS-CURVY BEAUTIFUL-FRAME can ... into these ... really was NOT expecting it. I tried them on... and OMG! My hips actually like these ... wear them to work also with my boyfriend blazer and a nice relax t shirt, and I keep getting compliments over and over and over again. I am a VERY curvy person and if you are too... then girl, go get yourself a pair!!!!

Best fitting ...
I am always looking for ... well, and they are always diffucult to find. I finally have found a pair and style that work well for me. I would definitley buy these again and in other colors. Also love the fabric for the winter months, thick, but not so heavy that you can't wear them through out the year. Would love to have them in ankle and capri style also!

6'' 36.5" inseam walker
These posed a bit of a problem with where it "sits". When worn pulled up right, the band rests well above the waist and of course doesn't quite hold the upper waist, ofcourse because it really isn't the same as your hips. I could push the waist down and it not be a problem but I think these are pretty much at the waist or above, not high waisted but definitely NOT below. However, I love the ... They flatter and can be worn casually or dressed up. I won't be returning them but I'll see about altering them. I'm dying for them to make it in low rise and in multiple colors like they do for the "regular" womens sizes. Please BR!!!!!

love these ...
I've been wanting to update my wardrobe with some skinny ... grown women and these ... bill! They are made of a substantial material with plenty of give. They are very comfortable! I'm 5'6" and these were a bit long, but I think with the right heels they'll work. The Martin ... great ... love them.

Good for curvy women
I bought a pair of these ... retail in gray a couple of years ago and I love them. I was excited to get the same great ... black, however, BR either changed the ... got an "off" pair. Compared to my gray pair these were a bit snugger in the waist (but do able), a slightly lower rise (which may account for the snugness) and too wide in the hips. The extra fabric in the hips combined with the lower rise cause them to ride up a bit. I'm 5'4", 110 lbs and I tried my usual size 2. I could have worn them, but they would not have been my favorite/go to black ... think that these ... would flatter somebody a bit more curvy in the waist/hip area than me.

Not for us petite women
I thought the ... were great, but not for a 5 foot 1 girl. It was big all over and not cut for petites. I had to take back.

Not as expected...
These ... got great reviews so I ordered a pair. The pros: they ... true to size and the fabric is very nice. The con: they are too long (I am 5'6 and ordered a size 4, then hung down low on my foot but they are too skinny to wear over shoes and too long to wear with the ankle look). I did not want a capri ... but something that came exactly to the ankle and then I could wear heels...these are not those ... so beware. Also, for summer I would think the fabric, although nice, is going to be way too hot. These ... would have been nice in the winter to tuck into boots I guess. I have to take them back - disappointed.

Waaah! Rise is too short
Once again, I'm out in the cold with no ... "regular" length would have been OK, (I am 5'10") - the problem is the rise/crotch is too tight. So, now I have to (1) order the tall pair online [...], as God forbid a store ever carry tall in stock and (2) pay to have the extra length taken off. Why do stores carry petites but not tall?!?!? Rise up (pun intended) tall women of the world and demand our due share!!!

Surprise, surprise!
Well, I took my chances on these pants since they looked so good on the model. I knew that our body types are total opposites since she is long and lean. Surprise, surprise, I'm keeping them; these pants are magical for lack of a better word. Once I tried them on, I looked as long and lean as she did! These pants are slimming, practically need no tailoring, and look luxuriously rich. I will agree with the other reviewers, that if you are really tall, you may not get all of the length you are looking for. I'm about 5'6 a little more or less and the pants wear well with or without heels on me if that helps.

Perfect Velvet Pants
I bought these pants and the bootcut pants but decided to keep these because they are fantastic. I wore them to my friends holiday party and as soon as i walked in the door all the girls asked me where i got my pants and said they looked great!! The legs/knees are a little stiff at first but once you wear them they are very comfortable and warm! Love these pants and finally have some fun holiday party pants!

WOW
Ok, so I am a true 16(bottom), hips, rear, all but a 10 top. Some people will say the pants ... because they can pull them up ignoring the ... pants on them. I must say, these pants look great on. I ordered a 16 short and I was soooo shocked at how great they looked on me. I was going to send them back because I am in the process of loosing weight and wanted to see if I could finally ... pair of BR pants. My only problem now is breaking the news to my husband that I did not send them back.

Perfect for your Christmas/Holiday Party!
I'm so glad I was able to find velvet pants (skinny pants at that) this holiday season! They are of great quality as well. I have to admit they are a bit shorter in length than I'd like, but they are more of a legging type ... than a jean. Compared to other velvet pants I have owned in the past, these are by far the best quality and style. I'm 6ft tall and they hit right at my ankle which is where a 34'' inseam usually hits me. They'll look great with a cute pair of flats! I can see where other reviewers say the knees are a bit tight, but the pants will stretch out. Overall, good job BR!

I MUST HAVE FAT KNEES
I purchased these pants and they ... everywhere but were too tight in the knees. The second time I wore them and bent down to pick something the entire butt of the ... ripped. I replaced them and the second pair was exactly the same in the knee and the knee ripped on the 2nd wear of the 2nd pair. They are beautiful ... but seem to be poorly made in the knee area. Maybe I have fat knees but the rest of me is a 2. I wasted [$]on a pair of ... didn't even get to wear twice comfortably.
