Best Work Shirt... Period
I own four or five of these shirts and I love them. They're pretty easy to get ironed, and they always look very crisp and professional. Also, I am 5'11" and Gap button up shirts' sleeves are not long enough. Buying tall sizes don't typically work for me either with shirts because the body of the shirt then gets too big. These shirts solve that issue for me, the body fits perfect and the sleeves are just the right length. As reference I am wearing a size 14 in these at the moment and I am 195lbs with a 38B size chest.
Loved it!
I'm 5'5", 105 lb and got the size 4, and it fit perfectly! Perfect length, sleeves were well fitted (not too tight or loose), and nicely fitted (not skintight at all, could've been a tiiiny bit tighter but I'm a skinny girl so that's probably just me). There's no vanity sizes, which is great because I think American vanity sizing is a stupid concept. Think more European sizes than American (in other words, size up!). The size chart given was accurate for me. I got the pink oxford color and it's gorgeous. The shirt feels very high quality and seems to be well made, which is what I expected for the price. Looks very professional and neat. Love it!
Better Than Fantastic
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this ... get compliments everytime I wear it. I'm small chested and it makes me look busty yet professional. I have it in three colors and can't wait to buy more!
Great shirt, order a size up
I am an in senior management and like to wear button down shirts at work for their practicality and professional look. After reading all the reviews about the shirts being too tight across the chest (even for small busted women like myself), I ordered a size up to 2. Size 2 is comfortable and fits great. There is nothing worse than a button down shirt gaping open in the front when you are at work! BananaRepublic has received many criticisms about the inconsistencies in their products' sizes. I hope their corporate office is paying attention and have plans to better communicate to their customers.
I''m Enchanted
I've never purchased a blouse from Banana Republic before. Other reviews say order a size up; I think they are right, for the ... snug all over except the arms, but I may be in denial about my size. Ha. (Will slim down a tad.) THAT BEING SAID the ... LOVELY. The main reason I ordered the ... color, a rich jewel tone that seems rare in professional wear. (So many professional shirts are blah in hue.) The quality of the fabric is excellent. Lovely, lovely ... hopefully wear on the first day of the job to make a good impression. When the price is right, I will purchase from BR again. This is a personal preference, but Banana Republic, can you please make the button color match the shirt fabric? It will make the ... even more professional. Thank you for this consideration.
Beautiful well made shirt
I just bought two of these in the store at great sale prices. One is a beautiful berry color and the other a white and purple ish stripe. These are so well made and are excellent for wear in professional office settings. I am 5'6", 137 lbs, 36C and these fit almost perfectly in the size 8. I could actually wear a size 6 for the shoulders, but I need the 8 for the bust. Honestly, although I think these shirts are lovely, I wish they would be just a little bigger in the bust so I could wear the 6, as I am fussy about the shoulder width, and think my proportions are very typical. Comparing prices for other brands, for an almost 100% cotton very well made, shirt, these are a great price even if not on sale. I am hoping they do not shrink when washed, but I think the small amount of spandex in them will prevent that.
shiny ... add a little sexy to a suit
I LOVE these ... usually wear size 2 at BR, but the fabric in this ... makes the ... just a little bit too tight at my very average bust (34C). I went up a size, and it is a little too loose, but otherwise looks great. Very tailored and professional. Looks great under a black suit jacket very crisp.
Great Basic ... Work
I purchased this ... light pink. I love the fabric, and the slight sheen, it looks very professional. However, I normally wear a 4 petite so that is what I ordered and it is too tight across the chest (and I am by no means busty, I am a 34 A) and I couldn't even raise my arms, it way too tight and uncomfortable. I am going to return to the store and see if I can try on a different size. So, while I think it is a great basic to have for work, it runs small and like a lot of the other reviewers said - you should definitely size up.
A wardrobe staple
This shirt has been a wardrobe staple for me for several years now; I have it in a few colors, including a print from a few years back, and it always looks nice and professional. I tuck it in a lot for work and leave it out to wear casually, and either way it looks good. The dark blue has been a favorite; I just bought another in black. I wear my normal size 8 in this shirt; with my 38" bust (34D), it's fitted and flattering. I'm 5'8", and the sleeves are the perfect length for me.
Nice ... but has some issues
This is a nice, professional looking ... like the sateen finish. I was excited about it being 'non iron' but found that to not be the case. I ironed it before wearing to work because it was already wrinkled and by mid day, it had wrinkled a lot in the back and across the front, just from sitting. I like the length and fit, although it is very fitted. I am a 34D and wore it with a sports bra so that it did not gap in the front, and so that it would hold me in alright. I purchased a 6 in this ... shoulders were a little big on me too. There is a lot of room in that area. The only other thing about it is that the cuffs around the wrist are very tight. I ended up unbuttoning the cuffs and rolling the sleeves a bit just so it would be a little more comfortable. Overall, it is a good looking ... just has a few minor issues to consider.
Um....the price is definately too high.
Watch out for imperfections, snags and weird lines in the ... both that I purchased contained noticeable imperfections that caused the price of the ... more appropriately be like $10.00. I would not recommend this ... anyone. It is a professional ... however, the sizing and shape is also off and it defintely needs ironing. The name is a total misnomer.
