Highly Versatile. A must have.
These pants are amazing! Extremely versatile. Very comfortable and they're virtually wrinkle proof. I've been searching for a nice pair or black dress slacks for work and business casual occasions... i have finally found them! I've already received numerous complements on them... I'm a physician and work at least 12 hrs a day... even after wearing these pants for >12hrs, they still looked as good as when I first put them on in the AM. After reading some of the reviews, I was worried... but these pants have not let me down. Extremely well made... as for the feel of the material, if you've ever purchased wool/spandex blend, you'll know how the material will feel. As for size, I'm a size 35 waist for BR pants and I ordered these in a 35 waist and they fit perfectly... as for length, I went one size longer than I normally get and they're fine... so I might suggest getting one size longer...

Pants are great
I had very similar pants as part of my private school uniform when I was a kid. Purchased these pants to go with a navy blazer and they will do that nicely. Although, I expected a more fitted bottom and less flare on the leg I am happy with them. The pants are replacing suit pants that were very wide and pleated. So, now I have a great use of a good blue suit jacket with these pants. I will be wearing them in June to a beach wedding and the half lining in the legs will make the pants fit well and breath well in the summer heat. Nice.

Going Back - Poor fit
Like others reviewing this product, I received my pants, purchased on line and the fit was all wrong. They are not the Classic Fit as labeled. I have purchased other Classic Fit wool pants in the recent past and these pants I just received fit more like a slim or tailored fit. I am not a big guy (5’11”, 165 lbs) and these were tight in the thigh and across the rear. I am very disappointed in the sizing quality of BR pants in all. I purchased these on line while on sale and with a coupon. I returned them to the store but there was no in stock replacement at the store to swap them with nor did the sales associate offer to order a replacement pair for me at the price I paid. Now if I want them still, I will need to purchase as a full priced item. What is up with that BR? I am not pleased. BR has wasted my time as I had to go to the store to return them. To all, do not purchase these pants on line. The fit appears to be hit or miss.

AMAZING!!!! PLEASE NEVER CHANGE THESE PANTS, BANANA REPUBLIC!!!!!!
These pants are AMAZING!!!!!!!! BANANA REPUBLIC, PLEASE NEVER CHANGE THESE PANTS & PLEASE NEVER STOP MAKING THEM!!!!!!!!!! BR, you will always have a loyal customer in me if you keep making these pants as they are. Please make them in as many colors as possible. These are a classic wardrobe staple. I am 25, 5'10, and wear a 12 Tall, and it is very difficult for me to find pants that fit great. These pants are remarkable. I would say that they fit very true to size because I wear a 12 in everything else. I just bought about 4 new pairs of these and they are amazing. I'm a healthcare professional and I wear trousers almost every day in the office, so I require several pairs. In addition, I wear them out to nice dinners, etc. Ladies, I have tried every brand out there... and finally the search is over for the perfect pants; these offer the style, quality, durability, flattering fit, and comfort that I need for work and play. These are true quality trouser dress pants. My legs are 35in inseam so I am going to get a couple of pairs hemmed so that I can sometimes wear flats; the others I will leave as is so that I can wear heels (it's nice to have the option!!) Banana Republic, I should note that I bought 1 pair of martin fit suit pants in 2007 with the exact same material makeup as the ones I just bought (tag says martin fit stretch, same size, and exact same materials as the ones I just bought) but the ones I just bought have a FAR superior cut and fit to the ones I bought in 2007. The ones I bought in 2007 had a narrow waistband and do not fit like the ones I just got. I love the wider waistband and fit of the ones I just got so much better!!! The ones I just got fit like the martin fit pants I used to buy back in the day (before and up until 2005ish) and fell in love with!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for going back to the best and listening to your customers!!!!!!!

SPECTACULAR PANTS
I don't understand some of the reviews saying that because they ordered their regular size in this ... small...that they are going to send them back and never buy them again. Seriously? Sure it might be a little blow to the ego, but let's be reasonable. It's the cut, style, and look of the pants that matters, not the size. If this ... too small or too short in your regular size and/or length, the solution is to order a size up or longer length and get them tailored to fit perfectly. I'm sorry, but the cut and style of this ... spectacular. I, too, have a few pairs in 2 different sizes that fit the same ... but I could care less. Why?...Because they all look amazing and that's what matters, not the size tag on the inside of my pants. That's why you have to try clothing on; it's not a new thing in any brand for pants of the same size to be smaller or looser than another pair. Plus, almost all quality high end garments require tailoring for a customized fit. For example, for me the regular length is too short and the tall length is too long (I have a 34.5in inseam), so I order the tall and get them hemmed to the exact length that I need; the result is perfection. I wouldn't give up on these pants if the size you order is off; exchange them for a different size... you'll be happy you did. Thanks again Banana Republic, keep up the great work with this ... keep the cut and style the same...they are #1 in my book.

Perfect black work pants
I just purchased these online to match the black suit jacket that I bought last April...I figured I might as well still buy them while I could to match (I already own the matching pencil skirt). The whole pants suit looks great! I love the suit with the skirt, but it's also great to have the versatility of a pants suit and knowing I can pair anything in my closet with the pants as well makes it win win. I cannot understand all the sizing complaints - I've been wearing size 6 martins for YEARS so I ordered the same and they fit perfectly. Perhaps those of you who are finding you need to go up 1-2 sizes have actually gained weight. I can't see how this is BR's fault when I've never changed size in the pants (and my weight has been stable). High quality work ... office (highly recommend pairing with the blazer).

Great slacks
I absolutely love the cut of these pants. I bought them for business events and interviews. While I normally wear an 8 in Banana Republic pants, I sized up to a 10 and they fit great. I'm 5'6, 150lbs, and have a pretty athletic/curvy shape. I have a short torso and was amazed and delighted to discover that I actually looked good in these pants with a blouse tucked in. I opted for the shorter length so I wouldn't have to have them hemmed (I won't be wearing very high heels with these and definitely wanted the option of wearing flats). The material is light and crisp looking but comfortable. All in all, I whole heartedly recommend these.

I like this higher waisted fit better than most dress pants because the fit is more flattering to the waist when you tuck in a shirt. This is the only style of pants that I've found that I like for this! Other pants are either too low or to high in the rise.

Great Suit Pants
I love the fit of these pants (as I love all my Martin pants), and the fabric is great. Very lightweight, but the pants are fully lined and thus still comfortable in the winter. They look great with the matching jacket, and I will definitely be buying these again. I just wish the tall suits came in more colors and variations!

The perfect ...
It is such a pleasure to purchase pants that fit so well while making the person wearing them look great! I love that the pants are lined, allowing them to hang like they were professionally tailored just for me. Although I needed to shorten the pants by two inches (36 inches to 34 inches), it was a small sacrifice in order to be able to wear pants that are perfect in every other way. These pants are well worth the price.

Love the pants, longer than the ones I tried in the store, belt loops are a bonus
I have a couple pairs of Martin Fit pants, and this is the first pair I will have to have altered to make about 3/4 inch shorter. I am 5'7" and have always been able to wear regular length BR pants off the rack. I tried these on in the store and they were perfect with a 2" heel, but these ones are just too long. I debated sending them back and seeing if they would send me a different pair that would maybe be the right length, but I'll just pay the $20 to get them altered instead (hate getting pants altered). They would have been 5 stars if I didn't have to alter them. I am a slim pear shaped gal and these pants fit great, and the lining makes the pants nice and sleek, no bumpy bulges on the behind. I got these with the blazer to wear as a suit, and this is one of the only suits I found that you can wear a standard belt with, which in turn, is what I attach my gun to. So, ladies who wear guns to work, I highly recommend a BR suit!

Slightly too long
Great pants, but this is the first time I've ever ordered pants and I may have to hem them. I've had other pants, same size with Banana Republic, and they have not been this long. Other than that, great pants!

Love the Martin fit
I recently dropped pants sizes through my exercise program and repurchased these pants in a smaller size. I loved them in size 10 (which was little large on me, but appropriate for work) and bought them in a much more fitted size. A size 8 would have probably been a better fit previously, but I'm not always comfortable with fitted pants for work. I find these pants to be comfortable, versatile, and very flattering. I'm tall and have long legs and tend to wear the slacks with flats or very low heeled shoes. Wearing higher heels I would probably need a longer inseam.

Quality of BR not what it used to be
I should have taken some of the other negative reviews more seriously. I have this same pair of pants from a few years ago and wore them out! Although the composition of the fabric is supposedly the same (per the tag), something is obviously different. I had both the old and new pants side by side and could feel the difference in fabric quality. The old pair was thicker and more durable. The new pair just felt cheaper. I decided to wear them once anyhow and not worry about how the fabric felt. The fabric atracted every piece of fuzz, hair, etc. - I was covered in lint before I left the house for work! Plus the fabric was wrinkled within an hour. I'm returning these pants. What a disappointment Bananna!
