Runs SmallI love the suit blazer. Great modern fit and color. It goes well with many patterned dress shirts. Ran small around the chest and shoulders for my husband (he's got an athletic build). I bought the black 2 button blazer as well and that one is true to size. Strange considering they look to be the same style blazer.
Finally a Jacket That Fits!So I've bought a couple of the Modern Suit Jackets and this one along with the Black one fits perfectly. Why oh why do the other jackets not fit the same as this one? I don't know. The Jacket looks sharp, the fit is perfect. It seems as though the traditional BR colors blk and gray have the correct fit, while the newfangled pattern/stripes do not.

SwimmingI don't like this modern fit. It's too loose and doesn't look 'modern' at all for someone with a smaller frame like me. I'm 5ft4 and 135lbs and I felt like I was swimming in this suit. I returned it since you can only get 36S online. I wished that BR, like JCrew, had these smaller sizes in stores.
Horrible ExperienceI ordered this jacket and matching pants as a suit - just as advertised in the BR Brunch special that they e mailed me. I paid with gift card. Only after they had deducted the amount from my gift card did I receive an e mail telling me that the pants order was cancelled, and they would be sending me a gift card for the amount of the pants. Now, all I had was a jacket on the way and no pants. I wanted a suit, not just a suit jacket. I telephoned the number listed in the email notification, and the woman I spoke with said that the pants were available, advised me to call back once I received the replacement gift card, and order the pants again. By now, the jacket was in the mail and on its way to me. I followed the woman's advice and telephoned again once I received the replacement gift card, placed the order for the pants again, and was told everything was fine. The next day, I again receive an email telling me the order for the pants is cancelled and that I would be receiving yet another replacement gift card in the mail. By now, not too happy at all with BR, I telephoned again. This woman attempts to give the same run around as all previous "customer service" personnel...promising all sorts of things such as expedited shipment, free shipping, blah blah blah. By now, I had had enough of this nonsense, and asked what I needed to do in order to get fully reimbursed for the pants that I never received, plus the jacket that was supposed to be part of a suit. I didn't want the jacket without the pants. She advised me to take the jacket to the nearest BR store and have my gift card reimbursed. At the BR store, I was told that the items I had purchased/attempted to purchase via the web had been placed on sale, so I was being reimbursed the current sale price as opposed to the original price I paid via my gift card. If you are confused by reading this, then you can relate to how my head was spinning as a result. I will NEVER order anything from BR again. This was a horrible experience, it cost me money (in the form of a non fully reimbursed gift card) and I have nothing to show for my efforts. I attempted to be a customer, wanted to purchase a suit, and I'm left with nothing. BTW, the clerk at the store checked "the computer" and told me it appeared that they had plenty of the pants that I had attempted to order. I have no idea why the couldn't/wouldn't sell me the pants. What a weird experience!

Classic style, great color and qualityWe chose Banana Republic suits over tuxes for our wedding. The style and color are classic and the quality is amazing, so these are suits the boys can wear again and again. And I think it's such a better look than a cheesy, rented tuxedo! I wish they hadn't discontinued the Tailored Fit in this charcoal color, because a lot of the younger boys prefer the more tailored pant, but the modern is also a nice fit - more of a classic suiting pant. Boys will be wearing with white shirts, the BR Classic Silk Plaid tie (navy), BR argyle socks (navy) and Navy Blue Chuck Taylor's from Piperlime! They're going to look amazing! :)
Cyclist thighsI'm a pretty small guy 155 lb at 5'11" and I ordered the 30x32 tailored fit pants to go with the charcoal suit. Unfortunately the thighs were so tight I was afraid to sit down. Then I ordered the modern fit on the recommendation of a store sales associate. The good news is the color is a great match with the charcoal tailored fit suit jacket. The bad news, I really didn't feel like the pants were much of a differnt fit. There is a bit more of a flair at the end of the pant compared to the tailored fit, but overall I still struggled with these pants looking like tights above my knees. Oh well I tried.
