mens straight leg pants - reviews

Highly Versatile. A must have. These pants are amazing! Extremely versatile. Very comfortable and they're virtually wrinkle proof. I've been searching for a nice pair or black dress slacks for work and business casual occasions... i have finally found them! I've already received numerous complements on them... I'm a physician and work at least 12 hrs a day... even after wearing these pants for >12hrs, they still looked as good as when I first put them on in the AM. After reading some of the reviews, I was worried... but these pants have not let me down. Extremely well made... as for the feel of the material, if you've ever purchased wool/spandex blend, you'll know how the material will feel. As for size, I'm a size 35 waist for BR pants and I ordered these in a 35 waist and they fit perfectly... as for length, I went one size longer than I normally get and they're fine... so I might suggest getting one size longer...

Classic will fit again.I was confused, for the better, while trying these classic fit wool pants on due to the style name, and understandably why other reviewers seem frustrated. Until recently, all male formalwear labeled in any degree classic has fit a man like an oversized baggy mess, The average male body has needed styles labeled vintage, slim, custom, silhouette etc. to obtain simple ... definition and tailoring, though designers never forget to add cost with each creatively furthered tailoring adjective. For this particular ... classic fit has jumped back to fitting an average slender male body, the lower half at least. After trying several styles I found classic to now hold uniform tailoring, a narrow lower leg, and room to still tuck in a shirt. Note that the modern style is significantly more roomy and less defined, matching a loose straight leg ... indicates male style/sizing is heading toward classic meaning the ground zero starting point for true to-size formalwear and will lessen the confusion. Designers have noticed the average male body has improved and classic means fit and healthy (and big and tall means just that).

GiftThese pants were purchased for a gift and the result was great. They fit perfectly around the waist and the length was as expected. The upper leg room was ample maybe a bit large but overall the pants were definitely as expected, turned into a wonderful present. Thank you!

Great fitNice fitting ... am 6' with an athletic build and it nice to finally find some ... room in the legs. Bought 4 pair of banana republic ... now.

Pants are greatI had very similar pants as part of my private school uniform when I was a kid. Purchased these pants to go with a navy blazer and they will do that nicely. Although, I expected a more fitted bottom and less flare on the leg I am happy with them. The pants are replacing suit pants that were very wide and pleated. So, now I have a great use of a good blue suit jacket with these pants. I will be wearing them in June to a beach wedding and the half lining in the legs will make the pants fit well and breath well in the summer heat. Nice.

Decent FitI was looking for a good classic wool ... wear to work. Overall I'd say that these are 'pretty good'. I typically fall between a 30 and 31 in the waste, so I got these in a 30 since my 31 was a bit too big. The overall fit is acceptable, though they're a bit tight in the upper leg/thigh region. If your upper legs aren't too thick I think these pants will fit perfectly. If not, they'll just be a bit snug.

Classic Fit Sizes???These pants are very nice, but what has happened to BR and sizing? I have a 28" waist and have found that the only 28" waist pants BR makes any longer are 28x30- if they even make a particular style in a 28" waist. Few other companies do, so why not have that edge??? Look around online. This is a real problem for a lot of ... 18-55. I wear a 28x32 and can't find pants. These Classic Fit pants are among the few BR styles left that still come with 28" waist and 32" inseam. Can you PLEASE get back on track with the length options? There are some of us out here who used to count on your sizes. If it had to be one or the other (which it doesn't), how about longer? A tailor can always make them shorter, but I've yet to meet one who can add what isn't there successfully.

thighs too tightEven though this is the classic ... very tight through the thighs, just like the slim ... If you work out & have muscular legs, these ... may be too tight.
Going Back - Poor fitLike others reviewing this product, I received my pants, purchased on line and the fit was all wrong. They are not the Classic Fit as labeled. I have purchased other Classic Fit wool pants in the recent past and these pants I just received fit more like a slim or tailored fit. I am not a big guy (5’11”, 165 lbs) and these were tight in the thigh and across the rear. I am very disappointed in the sizing quality of BR pants in all. I purchased these on line while on sale and with a coupon. I returned them to the store but there was no in stock replacement at the store to swap them with nor did the sales associate offer to order a replacement pair for me at the price I paid. Now if I want them still, I will need to purchase as a full priced item. What is up with that BR? I am not pleased. BR has wasted my time as I had to go to the store to return them. To all, do not purchase these pants on line. The fit appears to be hit or miss.

Good ... slim man My husband is very slim and wears 30 x 30 ... It's generally hard to find ... his size, and they're usually not a good ... seat. These Gavin ... chinos are just right- fitted in the rear, legs truly ... He likes them so much he got three pairs.

Great ... Straight leg is not too skinny, just right. Fabric is a nice thickness and quality. Easy care, washes well. Really like the acorn color--matched lots of shirts.

My son loved these ... so much, he went straight to the store the day after Christmas and bought another identical pair; they were just that perfect! I will continue to order items for him online and send them straight to his dorm because I know he'll love it and I can totally trust Banana Republic's wonderful service. Thanks BR!!

Banana Republic''s first ... bill! For years I've worn shirts from BR, but the ... were never cut right, never quite with the current style, a little too traditional, too high waisted, too tapered in the leg, etc. Despite some of the disappointments I see in the other reviews, the newly redesigned GAVIN CHINO finally has caught up to current style. the straight ... exactly that. the legs are slim (but not too slim) and straight, the waist is low (but not too low), and it's true to ... Finally I can outfit myself top and bottom from the same store! Perfect for my professional/casual office. Still a little too "dressy" for me to wear outside of work, when I'd usually not be caught in anything other than jeans.

A little shorter than I like. The over all ... great. The ... amazing and look really good. You can easily dress them up or go casual. The only issue I have is that the leg length is a little shorter than I like at 34 inches. Instead of just washing them and throwing them in the dryer I have to hang dry them to dry to ensure than they don't shrink. I buy the straight jean style all the time and have never had any issues with the size at 34 waist 34 length.

VERY DisappointedI hate to write a negative review as I'm a loyal customer of BR but I could not have been more disappointed in these ... admit... the sizing is going to play a role "perhaps" ... but I got my usual 34x34 delivered yesterday and they HAD to have been more like a size 36x36. I was expecting something at least sort of similar but with a more narrow leg all the way down. Let me just say that "baggy" and "extremely tapered" are not a flattering ... I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and try a smaller size but I am not pleased whatsoever with these. I just hope it was the particular pair that I received. In my opinion too, they need to distance themselves from their other brands like GAP, Old Navy, etc... I never liked the marketing approach they went to a few years ago. I don't care how big and successful they are, if you're going to market to a mid higher level target, I think they need to show a little individualism. Ok, sorry to rant.. I'm just not pleased by the "cookie cutter" products they have spitting out. They are nice and heavy weight no doubt, which I give them credit for... but ... consistency should be their main objective.

Perfect Khaki ... My college age son loves all things Banana Republic, so I bought him these khakis for Christmas online, and gift wrapped. I could not have been more pleased with the whole experience. My son loved these ... so much, he went straight to the store the day after Christmas and bought another identical pair; they were just that perfect! I will continue to order items for him online and send them straight to his dorm because I know he'll love it and I can totally trust Banana Republic's wonderful service. Thanks BR!!

mens shoescan you start to carry mens shoes. I have to keep ordering them on line or from anther store. waiting for a knee length denim skirt,

Go to ... I started with three pairs of the Dawson Chinos last year. I liked them so much I decided to add the Gavin straight ... my wardrobe. I now wear the acorn and the British khaki(?) color on a weekly basis. They look great with dress shirts, polos, and basic tees. The ... obviously slightly narrower than the Dawson relaxed ... but they are in no way a super slim ... I'm 5'10" 150 lbs and have just enough room in all the important areas for the ups- and downs- of retail work. My favorite feature of the Gavin ... seam pockets. I now wish all my ... had this.

nice ... I bought these for my teenage son (just going from kids size to mens) and he likes them, but I think they seem a little short. I recommend sizing up on the length. He really likes the ... though, very slim, but comfortable. He has a slim build, so I don't know if they would work for everyone

Gavin''s changed from 2010Spoke w/ BR support. After receiving my ... they were noticably tighter than the ones I have. As it turns out the ... were altered from 2010 slightly even though the name and "straight" cut remains the same. Be careful about this change. Quality remains good. Ended up making a return. I have several pairs for work.

It was ridiculous. The thing is... it's not just the sizing was, of course, WAY off, but they are the baggiest ... have tried on since maybe 10 or 12 years ago! The rise was waaaay too long and around the hips and thighs, they ... more like a pair of classic Dockers or something to that effect as they bunched out and most certainly not straight or fitted whatsoever. My favorite is usually their boot cut chinos which.. if you pick out the right one's, are nice and slim all the way down with "just about" the perfect leg opening... more of a straight than flared. But then again, Banana needs to do something to get their sizing more consistent. This is not good business and whatever they need to do to fix this, they need to get it done.
