These shoes are confortable and stylish and affordable.
I've only had to purchase 2x pairs of these ... past 9 years since 2002 -- the latest pair that I had been wearing since JAN 2009 should have lasted longer, but the "sidewall" on the inner right side of the left shoe "broke" and the piece came out. I'm having it repaired but I needed ... meantime, so I purchased another pair of these because they are comfortable! I like the supple leather feels great and the black matt finish goes well with jeans, khakis or slacks, so it coordinates well with my office business casual attire throughout the week as well as casual Fridays. Maintenance/cleaning is a breeze -- just (1) wipe off debris using a terrycloth towel, then (2) brush all surfaces lightly with a soft haired boot brush to remove liquid stains, (3) massage a light layer of lanolin oil based shoe cream lotion (I recommend Cadillac Boot & Shoe Care White lotion - good any colored leather shoe), and (4) finish off with a clean terrycloth towel. I do this every other day when I get home; it only takes about five minutes for both ... keeps them not only looking new, but also feeling new and clean. Also prolongs the life of the leather (the lotion will make it less prone to cracking in cold or dry heat). With this kind of care, these ... can easily last 4-5 years. Not bad for [$]

loafers that you need to have in your arsenal
First pair of BR shoes bought and I have to say that I'm impressed. I was looking for shoes that could go with dress clothes and night in the town wear (darker jeans) and these shoes definitely fit the bill. They are dark enough brown that you can easily wear them with navy and gray pants and yet not dark enough to pass off as brown/mahogony colored shoes. Also, I was looking for shoes that had a toe box look to it rather than the sharp toe ones. Although these shoes do not exactly have a toe box, they still have that semblance and it appears to work very well. In terms of comfort, these shoes did not require any breaking in-time at all which is probably due to the soft leather. I usually wear them for 8+ hrs each day and have not had any issues yet with soreness or fatigued feet. One piece of note, I'm not sure it's just my shoes or not but i noticed that at the area of the arch of my feet, these shoes have an exaggerated arch support, meaning that it curves up into my arches. Doesn't really bother me, but I notice them when I stand in one place. As for size and fit, since these were loafers, I bought them 1/2 a size smaller to have a better fit and it appears to be a good call. Overall, an excellent brown dress/night out shoes that most likely will persuade me to get the black version.

If You''re A Man Who Lives In His ...
As always, my 2 new pairs of BR ... flawless design and optimum comfort. A pair of black, a pair of brown, and I'm ready for work - whatever colors (usually BR threads) I decide to wear. No breaking in period, no blisters, no problem. I know what size I wear in BR clothes and ... so no need to go to the store, although I am lucky enough to have 2 BR stores within walking distance of my office. The ... sturdy, my feet love 'em so I'm happy to recommend them to any man who has to dress for work and doesn't take "casual Friday" to the point of jeans and sneakers.

Sleek solid ...
These ... very comfortable, much more comfortable than I first thought. I wouldn't have gotten them if they weren't on sale, but I'm happy I did. The ... can go with work or going out attire, very multi dimensional. They run a little big, I usually wear 14's and got 13s and they fit pretty well. Very good looking, good fitting ...
I purchased these ... brown a couple of days ago and wore them to work with a suit yesterday. They look great and felt comfortable all day. I wear a size 10 but bought a 9.5 due to these ... running half size too big. I recommend these ... although seems like they'll take a few wears to break in.

Size Issues
After three weeks of trying I'm still looking for my right size with this shoe. I've been wearing BR dress shoes for close to eight years and with no nearby location selling men's shoes any longer (well Chicago is a close neighbor), I'm left with online. I've always been a 9.5[...] I wore the 9 for a while and I do like the shoe and am sure I will more with the correct size. A full size though, I really thought the sizing was based off of units of measure so if that's the case I'm not sure how it's off by so much.

Unreliable craftsmanship
I purchased this ... less than a year ago. Although it was one of my favorite ... rotation and quickly became one of my most comforable, the cemented seam has already split away from the sole and needed to be repaired with ... cement. I would expect better craftsmanship and reliability from one of the more expensive ... around.

a bit too large...
I normally wear size 11 but these ... so big they feel like size 12. Also the front of the ... look completely different than the actual picture. It's a lot more squarely and does not has that smooth curve which shown in the picture. I had to return these to the local store and was not able to exchange for 10 or 10 1/2.

I bought these ... only seeing them online, and was a little hesitant because every ... manufacturer has a little different fit and size from the next. But these ... fit true to size. The color is maybe a little darker than pictured on the site, but I am sure with wear they will lighten up, but I still like the color as is. These ... very comfortable and light, feel more like slippers, you hardly notice they are there. Great quality!!!

My husband likes this ...
On our casual Island the only ... most ... wear are their slippers/flip flops, work boots, or a sports ... said, there are occasions when it is more appropriate to wear a ... rather than a flip flop and this ... fills the bill. It is casually elegant at the resort, out to dinner, or even to work. My husband claims that these ... soft like slippers and very comfortable. He has yet to do much walking in them so I can't comment on how they feel after hours of walking yet I can comment on how pleased I am that they look great on him and feel a bargain compared to other higher end driving ... had considered purchasing for him. I got the same look I was searching for at a fraction of the price.

Perfect casual loafer
Got them in brown for my husband. He says they're super comfortable and the perfect casual loafer. I'm off to order them in black now. Driving Moc
I purchased these ... have been happy with them. I wear them on the weekends and when I walk the dog at night. I love the dark color of the leather and the ... extrememly comfortable. My only complaint is that the ... run about half a size too large and did not come in a narrow. Overall, I love these ... even though they run alittle big like most Banana Republic ... do. The quick delievery was awesome also.

Brilliantly designed with no flaws
Howdy folks. I am *NOT* a paid marketer for BR, and you can see this by reviewing my negative reviews of some other products. I bought these ... May '11. I got them on sale, and I remember paying $70+ for them. These ... elegantly designed and are sort of minimalistic. They go well with socks, and also with no socks. These ... quite durable, minimalistic, somewhat austere. This zen design appeals to me, and the durability is also great.

Great Style!
I love the style of BR ... now the forth pair I've bought. They are very comfortable and look great with jeans. Two issues I have with all of these type ... drivers): One, the toe area seems to wear out first. Not sure why this is. Two, BR seems to often sell out (?) of, or not have available the size I take. These type of ... also not made for any kind of wet weather; I've ruined two pair already by wearing them in the rain or wet pavement. BUT, I can't stop buying them!

Best loafers ever!
Loafers usually don't quite fit me -- too big or too small. While these are not dress ... course, they are the most comfortable ... I've ever owned. They feel like bedroom slippers, but they are definitely okay for outdoor use. Great ...

comfy.comfy..
i got the brown colored one, it looks good in both dark and alittle bit light washed jeans.. works well with chinos/khaki pants too and plaid shorts.. the shape, fit and style of the ... just perfect, not too narrow, not too wide, which is what im looking for a loafer/driver.. && the material(leather) that they use is really soft and comfy to the feet(i dont usually wear ... without socks but with this one, its fine,as for me). the way they design the rubber sole also made the ... more comfortable, very nice!. im actually thinking of getting another pair of a different color.. hmm.. i wonder which color should i get..??

Nice ...
The ... comfortable & look great. I don't have any complaints. Two observations - (1) They seem sized bigger than other BR loafers - maybe not even 1/2 size, but still a little bigger. (2) The BR no show loafer socks still "show" with these ... It's odd - I love those socks & with so many other ... they don't show at all.

Chuck Sizing
these ... great, once i found a pair that fit. if you have ever worn chuck taylors, these fit just like them. i ordered a 12 and they were way too big. i ordered an 11.5. still, too big. finally, i ordered an 11. they fit like a glove. the downside of ordering online is not being able to try on the right size the first time. after all the hassle of ordering, returning, and re ordering i am happy with the ... they look good and feel good. i don't, however, recommend wearing them if you have to stand for long or extended periods.

Comfy
The reviews were pretty spot on, I purchased these online without even checking them out at the store even though the store is close to where I live and work. First BR ... although I've been a shopper for over 10 yrs, they're more dress ... size than anything else (usually 1/2-1 size smaller in dress ... High quality supple leather as usual. They are a bit of a pain to put on without a ... horn, but it's not like I'm taking these off every 5 mins. The only thing is that I ordered the whiskey color and it's a bit darker than I expected. Other than that, I look forward to wearing them all summer.

All About Style
I bought ... couple months ago and have worn them a couple times a week. ... really a stunning pair of ... absolutely complement a suit or any business clothing. However, ... not the most comfortable ... because ... bit tight, but ... bearable. ... do run a little large because of the narrow, elongated toe. ... all about style and ... look great.

This is the 2nd pair of Thomas ... have purchased from BR. ... versatile for work, dress and in between. ... round out a nice rotation in the closet. Be sure to get caps/taps so the heels and soles do ... wear out sooner than you desire.

A bit painful
These ... have a great look. I like simple, yet stylish ... so they definitely work in that department. There are two things that I don't like about ... 1. They are very loud. I don't like being in competition for the loudest ... building with all the womens that wear high heels. 2. I'm not sure if it is the manufacturer quality or what, but the ... hurt my right ankle on the right side as they are a bit too high on that side. They don't hurt my left ankle, but definitely my right. I got used to it through the day, but that was just the first and second day of wearing them. I have also ordered a black pair, but haven't worn them yet, so I can't say for sure it is just those particular pair or not.

Good, but not as comfortable as expected
Banana Republic advertises this ... - among others - as having "dual zone comfort technology," which I assumed meant that this ... would be easier on the feet than more conventional dress ... After having gone through a week of job interviews with them, I can say that ... felt no more comfortable than any other pair of oxfords I have owned. That caveat aside, however, ... otherwise nice ... constructed well and are on par with - if not better than - the quality of similarly priced ... Aldo.

Frustration...
I love Banana Republic for their quality and service. However, why don't ... carry size 7 ... store? This is a company based in Northern California where it is very culturally and size diversed. Since ... decided to make their ... sizes a half size larger, I can only get them online and most of the time ... unavailable. Other than this, BR's ... wonderful and priced right.

Look Great but Wear Aweful
Most other reviews I've seen about the ... general are correct; ... good purchase. My review mirrors another I read. I purchased ... February this year and wear them 3-4 times a week. The first week I wore ... were literally painful to wear. ... required unreasonable breaking in. It is now September and the heels of both ... front tips are seriously worn out. I am very disappointed. As a long time BR fan, I can tell the ... quality has definitely gone south in the last 6 years.

Comfortable, but somewhat lacking in durability
Having owned this pair of ... month and a half, I can say that ... certainly comfortable and stylish. However, ... already showing far more wear and tear than is acceptable for ... price. For example, just after a few weeks of wearing them two or three times of week, the rubber on the heel has already worn completely away along the back. What rubber does remain is so soft that it has the most annoying tendency to pick up pebbles and gravel when walking outside. In short, I must admit that I do ... believe my money was well spent on ...

Nice to look at but...
This is really nice to look at but after a couple of weeks of wearing it, I realized it was just that. The ... heavy and after 9 hours at work, it gets heavier. Work has wood floors and these ... get really loud. ... also not flat. I stand on the heel and it would raise the fore front of the ... really does look nice, that's why I bought it but that was just it. I just went out and got a similar looking Bruno Magli. This is the only one out of the handful of Banana Republic ... had disliked (I liked all the driving mocs I had bought).

What happened?
I have a pair of round toe black BR dress ... bought back in 2002. With proper upkeep, lace changes and only 1 re soling ... still look brand new and are exceptional. I needed to replace my brown dress ... went from a Cole Haan to ... mistake. BR must've changed ... manufacturers in the past 8-9 years. While ... look great, fit right and are reasonably comfortable, the durability is seriously lacking. Worn to work or formal events only, after just 6 months ... look ancient. The sole is coming apart, the leather needs to be polished every 3-4 weeks or else it looks like you mow the lawn in them, and the heel is wearing down and discoloring like nobody's business. ... very loud when you walk as well. Take your money and buy Cole Haan, Johnston & Murphy, etc or some other ... same price range. Hopefully BR will get its groove back with ... every other type of ... (casual, flip flops, etc) I've bought from them have been great. This one's a turd.
