comfy.comfy..i got the brown colored one, it looks good in both dark and alittle bit light washed jeans.. works well with chinos/khaki pants too and plaid shorts.. the shape, fit and style of the ... just perfect, not too narrow, not too wide, which is what im looking for a loafer/driver.. && the material(leather) that ... use is really soft and comfy to the feet(i dont usually wear ... without socks but with this one, its fine,as for me). the way ... design the rubber sole also made the ... more comfortable, very nice!. im actually thinking of getting another pair of a different color.. hmm.. i wonder which color should i get..??
Nice ... The ... comfortable & look great. I don't have any complaints. Two observations - (1) ... seem sized bigger than other BR loafers - maybe not even 1/2 size, but still a little bigger. (2) The BR no show loafer socks still "show" with ... It's odd - I love those socks & with so many other ... don't show at all.
Frustrating lack of coordination between online and retail stores.The lack of coordination between your retail and online stores made this an exceedingly difficult item to purchase. I had to order the ... online because I wear a size 12. This is odd in the first place, because I have never had to special order a size 12 at any other store. But what made it more difficult is that when I made trips to your retail stores, I was simply told that I would have to order online, instead of them taking the simple and obvious next step of ordering the ... me and having me pay there, like all of your competitors do. This problem was compounded by the fact that I ordered a 13 at first, so when I took the too large ... back to the retail store, I was told that they couldn't help me in the exchange either. Instead, I had to package the ... return box and then take them to a postal/shipping dropoff point myself. The ... great, but this service is quite frustrating and is well below the standard set by your competitors, e.g. [@], if I need to order a size that they do not have in store (I am 6' 4" so this happens occasionally), they immediately order the item for me, have me pay in store, and then ship it to my home for no shipping charge. This makes it much more likely that I would order through them than through your stores where it is a headache to make any non stock item. This becomes even more of a problem when your in stock items do not include size 12 ... which is quite odd. Anyways, I am a Banana Republic fan and will continue to purchase things there, but it is disappointing to have to struggle this much to order online.

gabriel penny loaferOpened package and found that the two ... ordered appeared to be longer than the photographs disclosed. They are styled in the new Italian extended toe design which with my narrow feet makes them feel twice as long as they actually are. i?ll wear them and no doubt will become accustomed to the new style (i think) ? we?ll see the next few months. I broke my rule of never ordering on line unless viewing the items first at the store. The dark brown pair of suede thickness appears to be thinner than i anticipated. I also ordered a black plain leather pair which matches the quality I?ve gotten before from BR ... price range. The fact that i ordered these ... sale makes the surprises more palatable. i don't like the lighter in-color contrasting stitching which highlights the the front area: the overall design is strong enough to stand on its own without contrasting stitching. the ... i?ve purchased in the past from BR did not have that un necessary feature. Over all, still a good buy and I?ll continue to look at BR ...
Decent ... I like the style of these ... find these ... extremely stylish and comfortable. However I don't know how great the craftsmanship of these ... noticed after wearing these ... one day that the stitching in the front is begining to open.

Driving loaferGenerally, I am satisfied with the ... have small feet so I was surprised it was difficult to get the ... without a ... horn. I'm guessing they will stretch over time. I was also surprised that the description did not use the word "suede"; they were referred to as leather. They appeared to be suede in the picture but it was tough to tell.

If You''re A Man Who Lives In His ... As always, my 2 new pairs of BR ... flawless design and optimum comfort. A pair of black, a pair of brown, and I'm ready for work - whatever colors (usually BR threads) I decide to wear. No breaking in period, no blisters, no problem. I know what size I wear in BR clothes and ... so no need to go to the store, although I am lucky enough to have 2 BR stores within walking distance of my office. The ... sturdy, my feet love 'em so I'm happy to recommend them to any man who has to dress for work and doesn't take "casual Friday" to the point of jeans and sneakers.
loafers that you need to have in your arsenalFirst pair of BR shoes bought and I have to say that I'm impressed. I was looking for shoes that could go with dress clothes and night in the town wear (darker jeans) and these shoes definitely fit the bill. They are dark enough brown that you can easily wear them with navy and gray pants and yet not dark enough to pass off as brown/mahogony colored shoes. Also, I was looking for shoes that had a toe box look to it rather than the sharp toe ones. Although these shoes do not exactly have a toe box, they still have that semblance and it appears to work very well. In terms of comfort, these shoes did not require any breaking in-time at all which is probably due to the soft leather. I usually wear them for 8+ hrs each day and have not had any issues yet with soreness or fatigued feet. One piece of note, I'm not sure it's just my shoes or not but i noticed that at the area of the arch of my feet, these shoes have an exaggerated arch support, meaning that it curves up into my arches. Doesn't really bother me, but I notice them when I stand in one place. As for size and fit, since these were loafers, I bought them 1/2 a size smaller to have a better fit and it appears to be a good call. Overall, an excellent brown dress/night out shoes that most likely will persuade me to get the black version.
Sleek solid ... These ... very comfortable, much more comfortable than I first thought. I wouldn't have gotten them if they weren't on sale, but I'm happy I did. The ... can go with work or going out attire, very multi dimensional. They run a little big, I usually wear 14's and got 13s and they fit pretty well. If you are looking for a high quality shoe that can go with different outfits and settings, this shoe is for you
Impressive ... Incredible buy! I nabbed these ... while picking up a few ties for my husband. He needed a new pair of black ... these go equally well with premium denim for a night out, or dress slacks/suits and are just gorgeous. We've only recently started buying at BR for my husband (primarily shop Nordstrom) and I am impressed and my husband is quite pleased. A STEAL --leather uppers, leather lining AND leather soles under $150! (And I had a 40% off coupon, outrageous buy.) He really likes the look, (I'm in love with them) and he says they are comfortable. He usually takes a 10.5, but the 10s I accidentally got him fit perfectly . . . so I think if you are on the smaller end of a size, order down a 1/2 size.
These shoes are confortable and stylish and affordable.I've only had to purchase 2x pairs of these ... past 9 years since 2002 -- the latest pair that I had been wearing since JAN 2009 should have lasted longer, but the "sidewall" on the inner right side of the left shoe "broke" and the piece came out. I'm having it repaired but I needed ... meantime, so I purchased another pair of these because they are comfortable! I like the supple leather feels great and the black matt finish goes well with jeans, khakis or slacks, so it coordinates well with my office business casual attire throughout the week as well as casual Fridays. Maintenance/cleaning is a breeze -- just (1) wipe off debris using a terrycloth towel, then (2) brush all surfaces lightly with a soft haired boot brush to remove liquid stains, (3) massage a light layer of lanolin oil based shoe cream lotion (I recommend Cadillac Boot & Shoe Care White lotion - good any colored leather shoe), and (4) finish off with a clean terrycloth towel. I do this every other day when I get home; it only takes about five minutes for both ... keeps them not only looking new, but also feeling new and clean. Also prolongs the life of the leather (the lotion will make it less prone to cracking in cold or dry heat). With this kind of care, these ... can easily last 4-5 years. Not bad for [$]

Very good looking, good fitting shoeI purchased these ... brown a couple of days ago and wore them to work with a suit yesterday. They look great and felt comfortable all day. I wear a size 10 but bought a 9.5 due to these ... running half size too big. I recommend these ... although seems like they'll take a few wears to break in.
Size IssuesAfter three weeks of trying I'm still looking for my right size with this shoe. I've been wearing BR dress shoes for close to eight years and with no nearby location selling men's shoes any longer (well Chicago is a close neighbor), I'm left with online. I've always been a 9.5[...] I wore the 9 for a while and I do like the shoe and am sure I will more with the correct size. A full size though, I really thought the sizing was based off of units of measure so if that's the case I'm not sure how it's off by so much.
I was excited, but.....These ... made of very high quality materials. You are definintely getting what you pay for, and they look really great in person. I tried them on (I wear a size 13) and the toe was a little "extended". It seemed to make my feet look longer and pointier. I obviously do not need any help with that, so I returned the ... Everything was fine, just the style was a bit off putting for me.
a bit too large...I normally wear size 11 but these ... so big they feel like size 12. Also the front of the ... look completely different than the actual picture. It's a lot more squarely and does not has that smooth curve which shown in the picture. I had to return these to the local store and was not able to exchange for 10 or 10 1/2.

Great Style, Absorbs Water BadlyI love the style of ... I've bought probably about 3 pair over the years. Unfortunately, the other reviews are correct that ... absorb water like a sponge. If you step in the smallest amount of water, your socks are almost instantly wet. As I said above, I've bought the same pair multiple times thinking it was a fluke, but ... all performed the same in wet conditions. I'm going to shy away from ... future until ... redesigned. Hopefully BR will make it known if/when the sole has been redesigned so I can buy ... again!
Awesome ... sweatshop quality soles I've purchased two pairs of ... year (about six months apart) because ... look great and I really like ... However, I've also worn holes in the bottom of both pairs and a day of rain finishes ... off. I would keep buying ... but BR needs to fix their quality issue or re source the manufacturing.
Not true to sizeI wear a size 8.5. I also own 4 pairs of ... made by Bananna Republic that are size 8.5. I ordered a pair of the Ashers [...]The 8.5's are half a ... bigger. Now I will have to find a store and exchange ... Not too happy about that. I will think twice before buying dress ... online again.
Poor qualityWithin two months the stitching around the top of the ... has popped open in several places. As other reviews have pointed out, the ... suck water off the ground and straight into your socks. I expected better quality for this price.
Tried them despite bad reviews... did last a while (About a year) but have given me no end of problems. The reviews that state that the ... leak from the bottom are unfortunately entirely accurate. Even light rain that causes some wetness on the ground means wet socks for the day. And forget ever walking over something like dewey grass, you would be immediately soaked. Important to note: The leaking did not start to happen until after the first two weeks or so of wearing them, and ... were fine through the first encounter with rain. Also, after about a year (And I maintain them all right) a piece of the bottom just fell off. I did not notice any real damage that needed attention, but on the way to work a rip in the sole subsequently caused an entire section to fall off. I will not be replacing this pair with another of the same type, if I even take a second chance on Banana Republic ...
Good Looking ... Horrible Quality I bought the ... while I was still eligible for the employee discount before I started a "real" job. Anyway the ... look great, are very comfortable, but the stitching and soles of the ... horrible. The stitching started to come apart after a few months and my feet would get wet if I wore the ... wet conditions, it didn't even have to be raining, as long as the sidewalks were wet, the water would come through the sole. Overall, I want to like this ... but the quality was not there. I would only recommend this ... if you can get a really good deal (1/3 of the price)
DO NOT BUYI bought and wore ... once in the rain and ... leaked through and through and now look like i've had ... 10 years. ... incredibly poor quality.

Nice to look at ... This is really nice to look at ... after a couple of weeks of wearing it, I realized it was just that. The ... heavy and after 9 hours at work, it gets heavier. Work has wood floors and ... get really loud. ... also ... flat. I stand on the heel and it would raise the fore front of the ... really does look nice, that's why I bought it ... just it. I just went out and got a similar looking Bruno Magli. This is the only one out of the handful of Banana Republic ... had disliked (I liked all the driving mocs I had bought).

However, ... already showing far more wear and tear than is acceptable for ... price. For example, just after a few weeks of wearing ... two or three times of week, the rubber on the heel has already worn completely away along the back. What rubber does remain is so soft that it has the most annoying tendency to pick up pebbles and gravel when walking outside. Disappointed with qualityDisappointed for price. The quality of BR dress ... has gone down since prior years. The heels are ... flat. You can feel your heel teeter, and it also makes a click when walking. ... nice however ... too clunky and old man like.
What happened?I have a pair of round toe black BR dress ... bought back in 2002. With proper upkeep, lace changes and only 1 re soling ... still look brand new and are exceptional. I needed to replace ... brown dress ... went from a Cole Haan to ... mistake. BR must've changed ... manufacturers in the past 8-9 years. While ... look great, fit right and are reasonably comfortable, the durability is seriously lacking. Worn to work or formal events only, after just 6 months ... look ancient. The sole is coming apart, the leather needs to be polished every 3-4 weeks or else it looks like you mow the lawn in ... heel is wearing down and discoloring like nobody's business. ... very loud when you walk as well. Take your money and buy Cole Haan, Johnston & Murphy, etc or some other ... same price range. Hopefully BR will get its groove back with ... every other type of ... (casual, flip flops, etc) I've bought from ... have been great. This one's a turd.
Poor Quality... just plain awful ... Painful to wear with an embarrassing squeak indicative of extremely poor quality materials. BR will not refund your money per their policy on worn items. Just be warned. BR has obviously switched manufacturers for their ... made in INDIA. I've purchased several BR ... past and ... were usually made in Italy - for the same price as I paid for this junk. BIG difference in quality.
