mens khaki pants - reviews

Go to PantsI started with three pairs of the Dawson Chinos last year. I liked them so much I decided to add the Gavin straight fit to my wardrobe. I now wear the acorn and the British khaki(?) color on a weekly basis. They look great with dress shirts, polos, and basic tees. The fit is obviously slightly narrower than the Dawson relaxed fit, but they are in no way a super slim fit. I'm 5'10" 150 lbs and have just enough room in all the important areas for the ups- and downs- of retail work. My favorite feature of the Gavin pants are the on seam pockets. I now wish all my pants had this.

hip khakisBought these for my hubby for work and they look great. Not a slouchy shapeless khaki; cute butt or maybe that's just my hubby. ; ) But I don't think they would look nice on guys without a lean build just like skinny jeans don't work well on curvy girls.

mens shoescan you start to carry mens shoes. I have to keep ordering them on line or from anther store. waiting for a knee length denim skirt,

nice pantsI bought these for my teenage son (just going from kids size to mens) and he likes them, but I think they seem a little short. I recommend sizing up on the length. He really likes the fit, though, very slim, but comfortable. He has a slim build, so I don't know if they would work for everyone

Great pant, but pay attention to lengthGot the first pant in the lighter khaki and it was great. Highly versatile good fit, and great for work. I am 6'0 and usually get the 34x32L and it fit perfect in the leg and worked with the BR suede shoes and British tan wing tips. The only reason that I gave the pants a 4/5 star was because when I went back to the store and bought 2 more pairs, one pair was true to size and the other was half an inch longer in the length despite the 32L on the tag (not my imagination actually measured it). So just pay attention when you get individual pairs because BR's QC missed some rejects.

experience with Gavin ChinoI purchase 2 pair of these Gavin pants 34/30 in Stone color and Britsh Khaki they both fit perfect and I love them , but the reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is because I tried 2 other colors Black and Moose Brown and neither one fit the same! to tight on waist and too short on the Lenght. Quality control needs to take a look at these post because they are loosing Money on Customers big time. I wear these mostly at work in the office.

GREAT PANTSTHIS IS ABOUT THE FOURTH TIME PURCHASING THIS STYLE AS I HAVE THEM IN ALL COLORS BUT BLACK IS MOST USED AS WELL AS KHAKI.. SURPRISED SIZE 38/34 CAN NO LONGER BE PURCHASED AT STORE LEVEL? SURPRISED PRICING IS WHAT IT IS AND HAS NOT DROPPED SINCE MATERIAL QUALITY FROM ORIGINAL PURCHASE YEARS AGO HAS CHANGED TO LESSER QUALITY.. EITHER WAY - I WILL STILL BUY IT -

Be careful of inconsistent sizingOrdered two Gavin pant colors (acorn and moose brown? - i believe these were the color names). Both 33x34. The acorn fit well; however, the moose brown were far too large. I actually got two pair of the moose browns - one pair was extremely big, both in the waist and length. They were more like a 36x36 and extremely baggy in the pant legs. The other pair was still way off, but not nearly as bad. Obviously they both got returned. I purchased two 33x34 acorns at my local store, they fit great. Also: the acorns are actually darker than they appear online. They look great, and are an improvement over the previous khaki color offered by BR. However the moose brown looks kind olive green in certain light. Didn't like it.
Moose Brown? Must Have Gotten A Bad PairI don't know what was wrong with this pair. I ordered two Gavins, one in Khaki and one in Moose Brown...this is for the Moose Brown. I had to order from the web because of the length, so I got both at the 32/36 size. The Brown ones were at least a full inch shorter than the Khaki. I had someone else hold up the waists and have a pretty unbelievable picture of how short the one is. It also appeared to be Green instead of a shade of brown. In fact, when I took it back into the store to return it, before I could finish telling my story to the clerk, she said those are Olive. I said, "I know, but look at the tag. It says Moose Brown." Her response, "Oh no. I'd say those are Olive." Unfortunately the awesome Acorn color I wanted to get instead apparently is no longer made (or wouldn't be made anymore) in 32/36. The material was still a great material like the Gavins have, and the waist fit great, and I liked everything about it except a) it didn't fit; and b) the color wasn't at all what I thought I was getting. The Khaki ones were superb, though.
Shipping Errors/Quality ControlTalk about frustrating. I wear the 36L pants which is not carried in my local store so had to order online. Upon delivery I opened the package to find a pair of 36W x 36L pair of pants, everything would have been great except for the fact that I ordered a pair of 38W x 36L pants, as indicated in the shipping invoice included with the pants (apparently whoever packed the order just grabbed whatever was available). Had to go through a lengthy process to exchange for the correct size pants that I originally ordered (had to call, ship back, place another pair on my cc, wait for original pair to be credited back to cc, etc). Upon receiving my correct order noticed that the new pair had a hole in them. Again had to exchange the pair. All in all three weeks since my original order and still I do not have my pants (however my CC has been invoiced for three pairs, still waiting on my credits for the two returned). I have never had this issue ordering on line from any other store. Typically love the pants, cost is a little high, pants continue to get thinner over the years (less quality), but the customer service, quality control, etc. has cost BR a valued customer.
The bottom lineThese are great pants except for two features, which unfortunately ruin the product. First, the waist needs one more belt loop. Second, and most importantly, the 34" inseam is 2" short. That's right, I measured the pants at 32", despite the fact that they were marked as 34" inseams. I measured three pair, and compared them to a pair of Gavins that I have owned for a year. If one pair is mismarked, I cold possibly attribute it to a quality control issue. When three pair in different colors all measure 2" too short, it leads me to believe that this is a cost cutting measure to drive increased profits. If you are a shorter guy, just buy your pants a little longer. As a taller guy, I can't go into a BR store and find 32" waist, 36" inseams. I won't order the pants from the website because of the size issue. BR, please measure and mark your ... correctly.

mens khaki pants - reviews

Love The colorI ordered the Acorn color and was very pleasantly surprised at how vibrant it is. It is a must for completing all wardrobes and will leave you without that "dull old khaki" feeling when you see it.

The most versatile pant ever!I've been wearing these ... years. They are so comfortable and true to size. I wear them for work and social get togethers. I've also paired them with a linen blazer which is a great look. I hope Banana Republic will continue to offer these in a wide variety of colors.

Just what I was looking forI was looking for a good pair of casual ... work and was tired of khakis. These are really comfortable and ... well. The relaxed ... just right if you're looking for a casual look.

good pants...with reservationsI am slender by american standard...5-10 and 142 lb. So I don't like too skinny ... they make me look even skinnier. I tried other fits and boy do they suck. This one with Khaki color fit me perfectly at 30/32. So I went back and tried same size with other colors, light khaki....too long! Tried navy and that fit right! I don't get it...why do they do that?

... my ants Purchased the ... replace another pair. I haven't laundered them yet so I don't know about shrinkage. I'm in the What I really need is a pat that is 31 inches long but companies do not have that length so I bought the 32s. They seem about an inch long(LOL) The fabric is good and the pant attractive.

Where are the light khaki chinos?Very annoyed right now. Banana Republic used to sell the dawsons in a very light khaki color. Although they have a color labeled "khaki," it is not the shade that I purchased last year. In fact, "khaki" is almost identical to "acorn" (based on the ... received in the mail today). Where did the light khaki color go? Why did you stop selling it? Grrrrrrrrrrr.

ColorI wish the Khaki were the same color as in the picture, that's why I ordered them. I love that light camel/tan but these are a lot of shades from the picture. Don't expect them to be that color in the picture once they arrive.

6''3'''' and 36" length ... were WAY too short I'm a tall guy 6'3'' and I'm accustomed to resorting to purchasing ... online in order to find my size (36 lengths). However I've never purchased Banana Republic jeans before (I usually stick with Gap, but they didn't have anything like these khakis) and they looked more like a 33 length, so I had to return them. Also the waist was too small as well (again I'm normally a 33-34 waist) I tried the 33 and they were too tight on me. I'd LOVE if BR make 38 length of these ... I'd buy them in a heart beat.

Dawson Chino''s - what happened to the ... used to love?!?!? I've been a loyal Banana Republic shopper for years. While their clothes are by no means high fashion, they make the perfect office attire for those of use who aren't required to wear suits on a daily basis. While I mix up my shirts between various brands, I've been extremely loyal to Banana Republic when it comes to ... - both khaki's and dressier wool ... My favorite over the years have been their Dawson style chino and ... However, that may soon change. My first complaint comes from their lack of maintaining quality control - in both the lifespan of the ... well as keeping sizes the same. What I mean by that is that I have been a 34 x 34 since I can remember. Lately though, one pair will fit as they historically have, the next are like an inch smaller in the waist....it's like the machines they use to fit the waist isn't updated or something and it produces all kinds of variations between the same sizes. I've noticed that this is a standard complaint in reading other reviews on the Dawson chinos. They've also widened the leg and what once used to be the the perfect relaxed fit chino, is now more of a baggy mess. So sad because I loved this cut for so many years. My guess is that due to the economy, certain factors had to be adjusted, which is resulting in poor quality control and output measures :(

Why change it?I have been buying these ... few years now. They have been the best Chinos I have ever owned. Why has BR changed the waist and rise of this pant? These where perfect for the working adult. Now they have lowered the waist and rise of the pant and made them for the teenagers and college kids. Most of us working adults can't and don't want to wear low waist & rise ... work or anywhere else for that matter. I will not buy this pant anymore. BR should just make another pant to appeal to the younger customers and bring back the original Dawson. BR please bring back my favorite Dawson Chinos.
Changed style?I purchased the exact same fit less than a year ago in the same size. Thought I would purchase a second pair in khaki, but to my surprise BR has changed their idea of "relaxed" fit. The ... way too tight in the thigh. They felt like skinny jeans. Definitely returning and never buying BR's idea of relaxed fit again. 6'4", 200lbs for what its worth.

mens khaki pants - reviews
