Versatile jacketI bought this for my 18 year old son and like the design and quality. I did find it ran small and returned it for a size larger.
No regretsI recently purchased this jacket after I saw it on the banana republic site as one of the more stylishly casual/semi formal pieces of outerwear that banana republic offered in XS. I got it on a 20% off sale which was nice. The reviews I read really solidified my decision before i bought it except for one reviewer that said it looked really cheap and he sent it back as soon as he took it out of the box but I honestly can't see what he meant because it looks really great. The jacket fits like a dream and it has no ribbing whatsoever, which I appreciate greatly because that way it gives a more natural drape on the body. The material is fairly hefty so I know that it's going to last for a long time. I would honestly recommend this to anyone who wants a blazer equivalent jacket, in terms of use and fit, that's great for almost all occasions. The motorbike leather jacket that inspired this look did not disappoint.
I'm 5-9, 140lbs and I went with the small size. The fit is just right and I'm happy with the purchase. It isn't the warmest jacket in the world but you can definitely wear it when it's 50 degrees out. If it's colder than that, you're better off wearing one of your warmer jackets.
Great Looking, NOT so great fittingOk, so the style of this jacket is great. I really wanted to love it. but the fit is too tight. The armholes are very small. It's also slightly too long. The biggest problem with this jacket is that it fits more like a slim dress shirt than a jacket. When you raise your arms, the shoulders remain boxy. It is very trim fitting when zippered -- perfect for a shirt, not for a jacket. It might work with just a t shirt or a thin layered dress shirt. You can forget wearing a sweater under this jacket. Take an inch off the lengths of the torso and sleeves and add it to the armholes and this jacket would be perfect.
Stylish, but sized incorrectlyEven though I measured myself prior to purchase and got a medium size based on the size chart, the jacket did not fit correctly. The shoulders feels a bit too small but the sleeves were definitely way too long (about 2.5 inches too long). Other than that, the jacket has pretty nice style and good material.
Great looking overall, some tightness & odd style choicesThis is a great looking jacket. I don't have spaghetti arms, but I'm not super jacked, either, and I find the upper arms to be a bit tight (in the arm pit / seam where the arm joins the main part of the jacket). It looks great, but would be a little more comfortable with literally just an inch of extra room there. Also, as someone else stated, it's a bit odd that the 'motorcycle' collar extends on both sides instead of just one. This actually ends up being annoying when you zip the jacket up. Since I got it for 50% off, I'm not bothered by these issues enough to send it back, but at full price, I wouldn't keep it.
