Perfect work skirtI am completely surprised by the negative reviews here. I read most of them before trying the skirt on in the local BR store - and was prepared for disappointment. The complete opposite was true - this skirt ... me PERFECTLY! Disclosure: I am a 5'7" 120 lbs built fairly straight up and down and wear either a 0 or 2 in ... (XS or S). I wanted a skirt to wear to interviews or work (healthcare industry) that had a higher waist and hit just above the knee. DONE! LOVE IT! Every seam laid completely flat, no wrinkles, bumps, or scrunchy fabric tugging in random areas. It keeps my tucked in work shirts well placed and I have no need for a belt. The material is high quality, as is the craftsmanship, and the skirt looks beautiful with the matching ... jacket. I purchased a size 2 in the skirt, the Martin ... jacket in both ... grey. ... suits will serve me well for the next decade or so. YAY for BR! Thanks for helping me look and feel like a professional woman!
Great skirtFirst time I have written a review for BR. I needed a ... interview and went with this skirt and the coordinating jacket. The skirt fits nicely everywhere and was surprised to find it was actually comfortable (not used to wearing suits and will ... if I get this job - which of course I won't mind!). Great investment - nicely made.
Up Size for A Better ... What do ... sizes even mean any more? That being said, be sure to "upsize" if you're a regular BR shopper, like everyone else has noted. I was skeptical because I normally wear a 2 jacket and 4 skirt if there in the BR suits that have stretch. However, I ended up buying a 6 jacket and a 4 LONG (and I'm only 5'5) skirt and it fits perfectly, hitting right at the knee so it's acceptable for my work. The 6 jacket is still fitted and I can wear a collared shirt or short sleve top underneath. About the ... takes a traditional ... skirt ... ups the style with the high waist skirt. (I love it becuase I can wear a belt with it to break up the waist panel).The fabric is not as "refined" as some other suits from BR I've bought in the past but with all the holiday sales going on you can surely take advantage and get yourself a new ... good price.

What happened to BR''s suits?!?I've gotten a couple of really great suits from BR, but unfortunately they are now a size too small. This skirt (with matching jacket) is the 2nd ... I've returned to BR in the last year. They ... awfully and are NOT work appropriate. I don't know what kind of office ... could be worn in - certainly not mine! I ... job interview in 2 days and I'm so frustrated how hard it is to find a basic/classic ... fits correctly!! Bring back the old ... BR!!!
BAD DESIGN CHOICE with back zipperI tried on this ... store, but was disappointed with the cheap fabric and poor tailoring. I also wasn't crazy about the cut of the skirt -- it's somewhere between a pencil skirt and a A line, as if the designers couldn't decide which way to go. Most of all, however, I want to point out the extremely poor design choice with respect to the back zipper. I thought I was having trouble pulling it all the way up, until I realized that it purposely doesn't go all the way up to the waist. Instead, it stops at a "V" about an inch below the waist, with a hook just below the "V." The problem is, if I were to wear this around the office without a jacket and with a shirt tucked in, it would look like I was somehow too fat around the middle to pull the zipper all the way up! (In fact, this is a tried and-true method many women ... used to extend the use of a skirt that is getting too tight, so long as you can wear an untucked knit top or sweater to cover it up.) Why, oh why, would the designers think this was a good idea?!?

Lover of the Jackson Fit!I've been shopping at the Gap Company since the 70's when finding a good fit involved picking light blue cordoroys (or whatever the latest color was) in boys/mens sizes and hoping the waist fit me. The Jackson Fit is a far cry from those days and a wonderful pant for those of us girls and women who have curves even if we are a size 6. The Jackson Fit is no longer sold in stores but here's hoping that the Company keeps the fit at least on line. Some of us are not 12 year olds anymore with boy shaped bodies but we do still want to look stylish!!!
Thank goodness they''re back!Love the Jackson lighweight wool ... suit pant. They are lined and I now have 5 pairs of these ... Love them, love them, love them! BR removed them from the website for a while and now they're back. They are great for work and wear well. The ... comfortable and look great. Thanks BR for bringing them back!!!
The description "wool" suit pant is deceiving. I have these ... brown and gray...and they are lightweight. Super comfy to work in all day and people tell me how skinny I look in them!
very stylish and well fitting slacksI have a few BR suits, but was in need of another and after reading the reviews, I remembered why I like them so much. These ... very flattering for my figure. I am 5'2", 110 pounds, but I frequently have to get a larger pant to fit across the hip (and then the waist is too big). These are perfect in size 2. I also like that BR offers a length between petite and regular --the Short is perfect. This particular pant has a very nice detail with the buttons along the waistline--although they are not visible with a belt on.
The Best ... EVER I have several pair of ... Jackson fit. These are my favorite style. They are can be dressed up or down depending on the accessories. The fit is perfect and the length works with a 2 1/2 inch heel perfectly. I wish you would make these in a brown or other color. I have so many of these ... There was a great dk green in the flannel ... few years back. These are a great neutral without being ... Please keep making the lined Jackson and all of the Jackson style ... women with hips They are the BEST!
Love it!I tried these on in store before buying them online. It is so difficult to find clothes that ... curvy women but ... were just great! I love how the waist is higher than most ... have a lower hip to-waist ratio than most women so now I don't have to worry about my low rise ... sliding off b/c they're too loose at the waist. I got the short (I'm 5'3") my only complaint is I wish they were a teensy bit shorter.

Love these PantsI'm 5'3 and a size 4. I'm too tall for petite pants and too short for regular pants with heels. I buy these in short which are longer than petites. Love the fabric and love the fit. I originalliy ordered a pair in Gray and went back and bought a pair in Black too.
Perfect ... work pants I just purchased these online to match the ... suit jacket that I bought last April...I figured I might as well still buy them while I could to match (I already own the matching pencil skirt). The whole pants suit looks great! I love the suit with the skirt, but it's also great to have the versatility of a pants suit and knowing I can pair anything in my closet with the pants as well makes it win win. I cannot understand all the sizing complaints - I've been wearing size 6 martins for YEARS so I ordered the same and they fit perfectly. Perhaps those of you who are finding you need to go up 1-2 sizes have actually gained weight. I can't see how this is BR's fault when I've never changed size in the pants (and my weight has been stable). High quality work pant for the office (highly recommend pairing with the blazer).
Perfect black pants!These are the black pants that everyone needs in their closet! They are a very classic style - not too wide or narrow. I ordered the "tall" length and they are perfect with heels for this tall girl. The quality is great and they launder well. I would highly recommend these to someone looking for a year round pair of black pants.
Perfect ... pants for work I am wearing my Martin fit suit pants for the first time today and I can't believe how much I love a basic ... trouser. First of all it is great to find a tall trouser pant with a true mid rise that isn't too high. Second, they are very well made. Third, they make my legs look amazing. Finally, and here is the surprising part considering I have a very straight figure - they actually make my booty look perky! I think I will order them in every color now.
Absolute EssentialThese pants are hands down an essential for any professional wardrobe. The material is perfect for any season and doesn't wrinkle when I travel. After having ill fitting trousers for a couple of years -these are like a breath of fresh air! I'm 5'10" and the length is perfect for small heels. So glad to finally have the perfect black pant in my closet!
Versatile work pants but sizing is offI purchased other Martin pants (the sleek style with the cuff) and found the sizing between that pair and these slightly off. I went with the 6-short for both styles. While they are flattering, comfortable and decent looking black pants (and finally something offered in a good length for short legged people!), the waist is a bit baggy on these. I might purchase the 4-short as well just to have another option on my skinny days. I don't think the pants have stretched out, but its possible.
Love the pants, longer than the ones I tried in the store, belt loops are a bonusI have a couple pairs of Martin Fit ... first pair I will have to have altered to make about 3/4 inch shorter. I am 5'7" and have always been able to wear regular length BR ... off the rack. I tried these on in the store and they were perfect with a 2" heel, but these ones are just too long. I debated sending them back and seeing if they would send me a different pair that would maybe be the right length, but I'll just pay the $20 to get them altered instead (hate getting ... altered). They would have been 5 stars if I didn't have to alter them. I am a slim pear shaped gal and these ... fit great, and the lining makes the ... nice and sleek, no bumpy bulges on the behind. I got these with the blazer to wear as a suit, and this is one of the only suits I found that you can wear a standard belt with, which in turn, is what I attach my gun to. So, ladies who wear guns to work, I highly recommend a BR suit!
Fit variesI originally picked up these pants in the grey pinstripe (size 2) and loved them. They fit me perfectly. I tried on the ... (size 2) and they were a bit more snug. They are a little shorter and a little tighter in the waist but with a couple wears, they stretch out comfortably. I also picked up the solid grey (size 2) and they were too small so I took them back. These are great pants overall. Most styles I come across have too low of a rise and don't fit me properly (I lack hips). These sit high enough for coverage, but low enough not to look like "mom jeans." I have noticed that the Martin fit varies by the material as well. These suit trousers are great, but any of the cotton versions look awful on me.
Inconsistent SizeBR's Martin Fit pants are always my favorite. However, this ... suit pants didn't work, something wrong with the size. I am normally a size 4, but this one runs very tight around the hips and thigh. I assumed this one had the same design and cutting as the Navy color one, because they came from the same suiting collection this season. However, the Navy one fits perfectly, while this one doesn't work. Tried to go a size up, then the size 6 was way too long and too loose around the legs...
not for the curvyI was excited about these pants, but alas, the fit... not for the curvy. I am 5'10'' and ordered these in a tall- the length was right, the waist was right, but the hip area- very tight. I ended up exchanging these for the jackson fit in the same size and the fit is much better for me. Overall nice pant, pairs nicely with the jacket for a clean, flattering, lightweight black suit.
Love the cut, wish they would bring the old fabric back.I have 3 BR suits and they have held up great. Went to buy 1 for me and 1 for my sister this year and so disappointed in the fabric. The new fabric wrinkles much easier and collects lint like crazy. I had to return and now searching for a new brand. Would like to avoid that pain and BR bring better fabric back!!
