I LOVE THIS ... I never knew I could love a ... much! This ... pure perfection. I consider [$] for a ... splurge, and this is ... first purchase from BR. I am always in need of a simple ... pencil ... occasional dinner party, so I figured it was worth it. I was so right! I usually fall between an 8 and a 10, and this ... fits me so well. It's like it was tailored to ... me! It is very slimming on ... hips and waist, yet flattering and makes me look just curvy enough. The fabric is nice and soft and you can tell it is very high quality. I ordered it over the phone and it arrived in about 5 days. I would recommend this to anyone!

Perfect work skirt I am completely surprised by the negative reviews here. I read most of them before trying the skirt on in the local BR store - and was prepared for disappointment. The complete opposite was true - this skirt ... me PERFECTLY! Disclosure: I am a 5'7" 120 lbs built fairly straight up and down and wear either a 0 or 2 in ... (XS or S). I wanted a skirt to wear to interviews or work (healthcare industry) that had a higher waist and hit just above the knee. DONE! LOVE IT! Every seam laid completely flat, no wrinkles, bumps, or scrunchy fabric tugging in random areas. It keeps my tucked in work shirts well placed and I have no need for a belt. The material is high quality, as is the craftsmanship, and the skirt looks beautiful with the matching ... jacket. I purchased a size 2 in the skirt, the Martin ... jacket in both ... grey. ... suits will serve me well for the next decade or so. YAY for BR! Thanks for helping me look and feel like a professional woman!
Flattering ... This ... my favorite pencil ... work wardrobe. The large banded waist is flattering on the mid section, and it hugs in all the right places for curves! I have a straight, athletic shape (5'3, 135 lbs) and usually wear a 2-4 in BR/Gap skirts, but had to exchange (for free and very easy thanks BR!) for a 6. The new one arrived within 3 days of calling in the exchange, and it fits perfectly! It hits just at ... knee (6 Reg, not Petite) and requires no altering. I found this ... while it was on sale + 30% off, and also found the matching ... fitted blazer for $45, so a full ... under $90 with alterations at ... height?? Can't beat that. It didn't get 5 stars because of the sizing issue (order up a ... your usual, or if you are between ... order the larger ... but overall I am very happy with this purchase!
Great ... First time I ... written a review for BR. I needed a ... interview and went with this ... coordinating jacket. The ... fits nicely everywhere and was surprised to find it was actually comfortable (not used to wearing suits and will ... if I get this job - which of course I won't mind!). Great investment - nicely made.
Up Size for A Better ... What do ... sizes even mean any more? That being said, be sure to "upsize" if you're a regular BR shopper, like everyone else has noted. I was skeptical because I normally wear a 2 jacket and 4 skirt if there in the BR suits that have stretch. However, I ended up buying a 6 jacket and a 4 LONG (and I'm only 5'5) skirt and it fits perfectly, hitting right at the knee so it's acceptable for my work. The 6 jacket is still fitted and I can wear a collared shirt or short sleve top underneath. About the ... takes a traditional ... skirt ... ups the style with the high waist skirt. (I love it becuase I can wear a belt with it to break up the waist panel).The fabric is not as "refined" as some other suits from BR I've bought in the past but with all the holiday sales going on you can surely take advantage and get yourself a new ... good price.
Best mid price pencil skirt, tips for getting right size This is the best mid price pencil skirt that I have ever tried and I have tried many from BR and other brands. The fabric with lining in basic ... help to slim my silhouette, enhances curves without being too tight looking, and controls my tummy with its wide waist "support or panel". It rises higher than most other pencil skirts, then tapers at leg so that helps to give me an hourglass shape on my otherwise somewhat straight to pear shape frame. I have this skirt in size 6 Tall... I prefer a length that hits at bottom of knee as I wear heels with this in a conservative work area. For reference, I am 5'3", size 27 in most jeans, size 4 in BR Martin ... 6 in BR sloan ... do have a little tummy. I find that BR overall tends to run small.... I am also a ... 2 to 4 in competitor and department store sizes. Here are my tips on ordering this skirt: 1) Try both your actual ... one ... up. 2) Try different lengths sitting and standing. If your goal is to show legs both standing and sitting and your work place will not mind so much or you plan to use mostly for going out, go for the petite ... if you are really petite. I tried the petite sitting and standing and it was way too short for my taste. The regular is a great length for standing but once I sat with it on, it came up almost to mid thigh...still too showy for my taste in my work area but may be just fine w/ you. The tall is perfect... hits bottom of the knee when standing and above the knee when sitting. 3) There is more darting in this skirt than the typical pencil skirt....for my body type this is a plus. If you have a little tummy, love handles, don't mind showing an hourglass shape, and want a skirt to wear without needing support undergarment...this is your skirt! That said, because I had to try on several sizes and lengths in this skirt to get right ... short on 5 stars. But keep in mind you can order different sizes and get free shipping online and just return at store. If you want to only purchase at store...find your closest BR that carries all sizes and lengths. For me, I could not find tall in any BR stores nearby so I had to order online.
Would be perfect, except for the pockets I love this ... pockets sewn shut or even removed altogether. Why, why, why? ... absolutely unnecessary. It's a ... so the pockets wouldn't show at all, ... right at the bend in ... hip and so ... pucker wide open. I will keep this ... overall ... perfect, ... am very disappointed that it will require another $20 to ... tailored.
inconsistent sizing I have the sleek ... skirt (cotton) in size 8 and it is a touch too big. This skirt in size 8 is a bit snug. The pockets are risky and might be unflattering if ... come unstitched. It has a very high waist (comes about two fingers above my belly button). Since I'm short waisted, I'm not sure how much use this skirt would get. The fabric is a three season wool (fall through spring in DC, spring through fall in northern climes like Chicago). Since it arrived horribly creased, I am having trouble judging the quality of the fabric and workmanship. In sum, if you need a ... right now, this could work out for you. If you are looking to replace a ... might keep looking.
Wool Pencil ... I previously purchased this ... gray a year ago and love it. The ... one however collects lint and takes a significant amount of effort to keep clean. I would not recommend it. Try a different fabric. Additionally, I wear BR 0 or 2 and I purchased both skirts in 2 and ... no complaints pertaining to ...
A bit too unprofessional for office wear I was hoping for a simple ... pencil ... bit too tight (almost spandex y feeling) for ... office. Strikes me as the kind of pencil ... would get in a cheap, trendy store like Bang Bang. Fabric is insubstantial -- does not feel/look like wool, the band is too wide & low to be flattering, and the pockets are a bit off. The biggest problem besides fabric for me was the silhoutte. The ... tapers as it falls down, so rather than being a classic straight pencil line, the effect is a bit more va va-voom. If that's what you're looking for, great. But I would feel inappropriate in ... workplace, and I ... no desire to wear this in ... spare time. I am going to ... return.

very stylish and well fitting slacksI have a few BR suits, but was in need of another and after reading the reviews, I remembered why I like them so much. ... very flattering for my figure. I am 5'2", 110 pounds, but I frequently have to get a larger pant to ... across the hip (and then the waist is too big). ... perfect in size 2. I also like that BR offers a length between petite and regular --the Short is perfect. This particular pant has a very nice detail with the buttons along the waistline--although ... not visible with a belt on.
The description "wool" suit pant is deceiving. I have these ... brown and gray...and ... lightweight. Super comfy to work in all day and people tell me how skinny I look in them!

The Best ... EVER I have several pair of ... Jackson fit. These are my favorite style. They are can be dressed up or down depending on the accessories. The fit is perfect and the length works with a 2 1/2 inch heel perfectly. I wish you would make these in a brown or other color. I have so many of these ... There was a great dk green in the flannel ... few years back. These are a great neutral without being ... Please keep making the lined Jackson and all of the Jackson style ... women with hips They are the BEST!
Love Jackson ... I'm pretty sure I have the Jackson pant in just about every color/pattern. They are the tall, curvy girl's best friend as far as work appropriate slacks. My only beef is that there are slight variations in fit among the different colors. For example, the ... seemed to fit a little snugger than the grey. I'm not sure if it's a QA issue or by design. So, I took off a star for that. Other than that, I love them. BR please keep adding additional colors/patterns!
SatisfiedThis is a perfect pair of ... slacks for work. I'm big in the thighs and rear, but these ... hit the right spots and still fit well at the waist. They stretch a bit with wearing, which I appreciate. I think I'm going to buy another pair.

Oh BR, why do you torture us hippie chicks? ... actually ... me—so I don’t have go to the tailor to get the waist nipped or the length shortened—but now, I can only buy them online, which is a total pain. Do you not want curvy girls shopping in your stores? I assure you we like to look as stylish as those with skinnier hips and the more boyish frames you seem to want in the store, and we have money to spend. So please put them back in stores. And give us some colors besides ... Oh, and that stupid double belt with buttons? Lose it, PLEASE. It adds bulk to my tiny waist.
Probably best suited for VERY curvy girls!I fell in love with the Lightweight wool suit jacket and wanted a pair of ... match. Initially I tried on the Martin ... simply did not work for me- the rear was not flattering and the fabric puckered terribly in front. Then I ordered the Jackson ... online because I tend to find that "curvy" cuts work best for me. I am 5'6", 125 pounds, with an average build but full in the hips and butt. I ordered a size 2 in the Jackson ... believe the Jacksons are made for someone who is VERY curvy (hourglass figure) because for me, ... had way too much room in the rear and the fabric actually sagged. The leg was a bit too wide leg for my taste as well. Lastly I decided to give the Logan ... shot and the size 2 ... perfectly and are just what I have been looking for! But I think for a very curvy girl with full hips/thighs/rear and a smaller waist, ... could work really well.
... tighter in the waist I ordered these ... gray pinstripe in 16T. The gray ones fit perfectly not too snugging in the waist but the gray ones were perfectly fine. I find sometimes when I order ... no matter the maker that they run a bit smaller for some odd reason.
Quality issuesFor those of us who buy Jackson ... dozen, be aware that these ... not the same quality as the ones that were sold 6 months ago. They are cheap looking, the lining is horrible, the buttons are thin and cheap looking, but guess what? They are the same price. Disappointing.

Absolute EssentialThese pants are hands down an essential for any professional wardrobe. The material is perfect for any season and doesn't wrinkle when I travel. After having ill fitting trousers for a couple of years -these are like a breath of fresh air! I'm 5'10" and the length is perfect for small heels. So glad to finally have the perfect black pant in my closet!

Perfect black pants!These are the black pants that everyone needs in their closet! They are a very classic style - not too wide or narrow. I ordered the "tall" length and they are perfect with heels for this tall girl. The quality is great and they launder well. I would highly recommend these to someone looking for a year round pair of black pants.
Perfect ... pants for work I am wearing my Martin fit suit pants for the first time today and I can't believe how much I love a basic ... trouser. First of all it is great to find a tall trouser pant with a true mid rise that isn't too high. Second, they are very well made. Third, they make my legs look amazing. Finally, and here is the surprising part considering I have a very straight figure - they actually make my booty look perky! I think I will order them in every color now.
Love these PantsI'm 5'3 and a size 4. I'm too tall for petite pants and too short for regular pants with heels. I buy these in short which are longer than petites. Love the fabric and love the fit. I originalliy ordered a pair in Gray and went back and bought a pair in ... too.
Perfect black work pantsI just purchased these online to match the ... suit jacket that I bought last April...I figured I might as well still buy them while I could to match (I already own the matching pencil skirt). The whole pants suit looks great! I love the suit with the skirt, but it's also great to have the versatility of a pants suit and knowing I can pair anything in my closet with the pants as well makes it win win. I cannot understand all the sizing complaints - I've been wearing size 6 martins for YEARS so I ordered the same and they fit perfectly. Perhaps those of you who are finding you need to go up 1-2 sizes have actually gained weight. I can't see how this is BR's fault when I've never changed size in the pants (and my weight has been stable). High quality work pant for the office (highly recommend pairing with the blazer).
Fit variesI originally picked up these pants in the grey pinstripe (size 2) and loved them. They fit me perfectly. I tried on the ... (size 2) and they were a bit more snug. They are a little shorter and a little tighter in the waist but with a couple wears, they stretch out comfortably. I also picked up the solid grey (size 2) and they were too small so I took them back. These are great pants overall. Most styles I come across have too low of a rise and don't fit me properly (I lack hips). These sit high enough for coverage, but low enough not to look like "mom jeans." I have noticed that the Martin fit varies by the material as well. These suit trousers are great, but any of the cotton versions look awful on me.
Versatile work pants but sizing is offI purchased other Martin pants (the sleek style with the cuff) and found the sizing between that pair and these slightly off. I went with the 6-short for both styles. While they are flattering, comfortable and decent looking ... pants (and finally something offered in a good length for short legged people!), the waist is a bit baggy on these. I might purchase the 4-short as well just to have another option on my skinny days. I don't think the pants have stretched out, but its possible.
not for the curvyI was excited about these pants, but alas, the fit... not for the curvy. I am 5'10'' and ordered these in a tall- the length was right, the waist was right, but the hip area- very tight. I ended up exchanging these for the jackson fit in the same size and the fit is much better for me. Overall nice pant, pairs nicely with the jacket for a clean, flattering, lightweight black suit.
Inconsistent SizeBR's Martin Fit ... always my favorite. However, this ... suit ... didn't work, something wrong with the size. I am normally a size 4, but this one runs very tight around the hips and thigh. I assumed this one had the same design and cutting as the Navy color one, because they came from the same suiting collection this season. However, the Navy one fits perfectly, while this one doesn't work. Tried to go a size up, then the size 6 was way too long and too loose around the legs...
