Great Belt
My husband loves this belt. It is so versatile (both brown and black) and adds a modern touch to his wardrobe. It was a much needed addition to his everyday work wear.
LOVE THIS!
Bought this for hubby, and I'm so glad I did. He needed a new reversible belt, but wanted a new, modern style. Since he wears it every work day, he needed a high quality belt. This belt delivers on both style and quality. He loves the sleek design and the way the end tucks back into the belt so it's hidden. Very metro. I saw some previous reviews about the belt not holding up. He's worn it every day for two weeks now and so far so good.
Great belt
This is a well made belt that looks great as either a black or brown belt. I like the clean, modern styling and it works for the office and leisure time too. The one slight drawback is the buckle is prone to scratching so you have to watch what you lean against.
Broke buckle Root Cause Corrective Action
Loved the look of this belt. Wore it two weeks and the reversible mechanism came apart. I gave up on customer support resolving the issue after 30 minutes of explaining I live 200 miles from the nearest Banana Store and returning to the store was not economically feasible. Luckily I'm a manufacturing engineer and had the ability to rework the belt. So BR, i did your defective material inspection and here's what i found. The thread cut to hold the mechanism screw was tapped off location. The brass screw used was cross threaded to make it worse. After one or two pulls to reverse, the threads had no meat left to hold and boom we have one broken belt. Here is my RCCA for you. Redesign with a 4-40 thread. Use a steel hex head (0.180 dia head or the reverse mechanism cannot work). Apply loctite (color of your liking), and torque to 8 inoz. Now your belt is certified to fly on a Boeing 737! I'm charging all my friends $5 for their same broken buckles.

Great Work Bag
I received a few gift cards for a few occasions and decided to purchase this bag. So far love it, great bag, plenty of room for storage in main pocket. Pictures do not show, but the back of the bag contains the separate laptop pocket, its very easy to access and padded. Love being able to walk into work and easily grab and or put away my laptop on the run. Would also make it very easy when going through airport security. Very stylish for many occasions weather your dressed up for big meeting or dressed down. Hope to enjoy this bag for many years to come.
Leather Work Bag
I was reluctant to purchase this bag after reading some of the reviews, but I see from the production description that the fading is by design, and apparently only occurs with the brown bag. I purchased the black bag several weeks ago and no fading what so ever. I love the bag - very handy and stylish. There's an outside zip compartment for your lap top or iPad, and several smaller compartments inside for mobile phone or charger or iPad. The main compartment is large enough and sometimes I stuff gym gear there. I only need one bag going out the door - very handy!
A GREAT bag for work
I am a Master's student looking for a versatile bag that would cross from class to the office to the rehearsal space, and this is a perfect fit. My wife got it for me as a birthday present, and I am really pleased. Already familiar with the great quality of Banana's purses, she had a feeling this would be a solid bag for me, and I completely agree. The laptop pocket fits my MacBook Pro (13in) perfectly with or without an additional sleeve, and there are plenty of interior pockets for my wallet, pens/pencils, scores and books. The leather has a great feel, and the deep brown is great for my style. I would highly recommend this bag to any working professional, or a graduate student who needs something classier than a Timbuk2 bag.
This ... great for the money. I've read some of the reviews about the buckles not working or no keys for the locks and how there just for style or the strap isn't leather.. Bottom line here is that it's less then $250, so if you not happy take it back and go to Louis Vuitton or Gucci or Ferregamo, and spend $1200 to $1700 for the same size ...
Great bag for academic / professional
I had been looking for several months to find a replacement laptop bag for grad school, and I wanted leather, something that said "classic and stylish". When I saw this bag in my local BR store it seemed perfect. Then I read some reviews saying that the leather would wear and reveal an orange color which made me hesitate. After talking with the sales woman who said her husband had one, loved it, I went ahead and bought it. I have had this bag now for 5 or 6 months and love it! It is leather and does wear in a couple of places revealing a lighter tone to the tanning, but that's what a nicely worn bit of real leather does, right? PROS: *completely separate roomy laptop compartment, * roomy main compartment big enough for file folders, notebooks, a couple of hardbacks, * two big pen pockets for extra 3x5 cards and an easy handful of pens/highlighters, * zipped pocket inside for small valuables like a USB drive, * two outer stash pockets big enough for a paperback each or Mac power cord and video adapter, etc., * long adjustable shoulder strap. CONS: the shoulder strap pad could use some more "grippy ness" with perhaps some rubberized material. I had to reverse the clips for the shoulder strap so they didn't always catch on the bag flap - not obvious but fixes the problem well. Could use a little more padding at the bottom of the laptop compartment.
Do not buy this bag, it really does turn orange!
Like many others, I really liked this bag for the first few months I used it. Then it started to turn orange. Now it just sits on the floor of my closet every day. I only used it for about 6 months before it started to look beaten up, and like everyone else I was just carrying a few things for work to and from the office each day. If you really like the look of this bag and can't resist I'd strongly recommend that you do not plan to use it every day but rather only here and there when it matches your outfit or whatever. Using it sparingly you might get a few good years out of it. This product is extremely disappointing and a total embarrassment for BR. They shouldn't be selling this thing.

When you get the ... brand new from the store or online, it looks great! Just by feeling it, you can tell it is a quality product. I've had my ... only a number of months now, and I use it to carry my office papers to and from work - nothing major. Now there are bright orange markings on the corners, handle, and random places throughout the ... first I thought it was me, but sadly I was mistaken. With it being dark brown in color, the bright orange really stands out. I would NOT buy this ... if it is over $100. If you wait, you can get it for much cheaper than the current price. All in all, I happy at first but after a mere couple of months I was pretty disappointed with this buy since color change. It does do the purpose of holding my items in a sturdy ... but doesn't do much for the short, let alone long, term appearance. Kind of ironic for a fashion brand.
Nice Bag, Didn''t Hold Up
I purchased this bag because (normally) Banana bags last quite a while and I wanted a classic, black leather messenger. My laptop fit perfectly in the padded back and it carried everything I needed for work. It held up well for the first couple of months, then things quickly went downhill.
I noticed all of the metal hardware started to tarnish/fade to this weird orange color. The clasp that held the shoulder strap at the right length began to slip, so every time I wore the bag out, I’d have to readjust it. The metal hardware that connected the bag to the strap seemed to pretty low quality. The clips kept catching, not allowing the strap to rotate, and created this metal on-metal grinding sound (which was quite annoying). The metal eventually broke, so I couldn’t use the strap any longer.
The leather aged quite well and the interior lining held up, too. The front clasps never stopped working. Overall, this is a pretty high quality bag but the hardware shouldn’t need replaced in less than a year. I have purchased other bags from Banana since, but I had hoped to use this messenger for a quite a while.
Looks great...but not for long
I bought this bag because it looks great and seemed to work for what I was looking for. However, the clasps on the sides keep getting stuck on the flap and is difficult (and annoying) to set free. Also the bag is actually ORANGE?!?! The leather has started to wear on the corners and zipper tabs/pulls and is not a lighter brown as one would expect, but a bright orange! I'm very shocked and disappointed by the price point relative to the quality. This one was a fail, BR.
after only 4 MONTHS the bag was completely worn and broken
At first the bag was great! Looked amazing on my boyfriend and fit a lot of his things. However after ONLY 4 MONTHS the bag was COMPLETELY WEATHERED and looked about 20 years old. The edges and seams were completely faded from brown to bright orange. The metal buckle holding the shoulder strap in place broke apart deeming it un useable. Worst of all, when I brought it the the store to express my disappointment and exchange it, they said it was "normal wear and tear and what else should I expect!" I was so upset that someone would have the audacity to tell me that after only 4 months, 'normal' wear and tear would make the back completely unable to use and an eye sore to wear. I am a big fan of BR and was extremely disappointed with this bag as well as the service regarding it. I am not one to write reviews but with the awful quality of the bag for a not so cheap price I felt the need to share the bad news with prospective buyers. Good luck!
