My Go To ...
Awesome pair o' ... Purchased them recently and find my self reaching for them before any others in my closet. Nice straight fit, just relaxed enough so that they're comfortable but still look nice. No sloppy bagginess at all. They feel great from the moment you put 'em on - no stiffness. FYI - the wash is darker than the photo appears. In the photo, the area from the knee down to the cuff is a more accurate representation of the wash color. That minor point aside - highly recommended!

nice but...
Very nice jeans - fit in the seat and thighs - but too big in the waist and too short - of course, they were a 30 x 32 - I really need a 29 x 33 or 34 - which Banana Republic doesn't offer. I can wear a 30 waist in some brands - but this one ran big. I had to return them. I'm afraid they will shrink in the leg and I won't be able to wear them at all.

Great ... cut was different than expected...
After purchasing straight leg ... I've bought in a department store.

BR is not the same as it used to be.
I have been a fan of BR jeans for many many years. This last ... arrived with a hole in it but I am not going to return it since it’s not worth the hassle. However what is really making me think twice before ordering online again is that there are big size differences between straight fit ... even size differences between ... same reference (same wash). Reading all the reviews I am not the only one who thinks this. Another thing is that the quality does not look as premium as it used to, they kind of look like their lower end ... gap. Another reason I did not return them was because I sent them to an international courier service from Visa in Miami that sends them to my home in South America, I know that BR has an international shipping service but the rates are very high.

Straight Leg ...
I really am not ready to review these ... They are a Christmas present for my husband and it isn't Christmas yet! They are asking for a review and how am I to know until he tries them on? The price is right and they look and feel great, the color is just as shown and that is about all I can say.

Not Straight fit
These are definitely a more relaxed fit ... Also, they are very long. For those looking for a relaxed style they are perfect, just got a size down in the length. If you want a great pair of "straight" ... suggest the gap straight ...

Straight fit from BR has many definitions
These ... legs, are huge. They fit baggier than their "relax fit" line. I ordered 3 pairs of straight fit from end of nov to end of december. All 3 are completely different. The one I ordered in store, "straight" fits great. So I ordered 2 online. One came loose, the other even looser. The latter is really baggy. I will only be ordering ... store now from on.

I have bought other pants online before but have never had this problem. Usually I need to shorten them because I have an inseam of 30 and with my waist size, I can't get 30. But these pants are not straight. they are relaxed.
terrible fit - cut like women''s ...
I've been buying BR ... years and this is the worst pair I've ever got. I've gotten straight fit ... size (32/30) in the past and they've fit great, so I went ahead and bought another pair online assuming they would be similar. However, BR seems to have changed the cut on their straight fit ... year. They look like something women or hipsters would wear (this according to my girlfriend). FYI, if I wanted hipster ... would have bought slim fit, thank you very much. Anyway, the legs are too short, they are low rise on the hip (so low that I can slip out of them without unbuttoning them! I need to wear a belt to keep them on!), and they are much slimmer in the leg than prior versions of their straight fit ... Anyway, don't buy this online. Try it on in the store and see for yourself.

Straight-fit black stonewashed jean

Go to Jeans
These straight, black, stonewashed jeans are now my go to jeans. Great fit, feel and color. I've generally had problems in the past with jeans where the waist was too big and/or the seat was too small, but these are perfect, with a visual slimming effect.

Customer Service
[...]For some reason they were to loose which is a good thing. I took them into the store and tried on a 38 that fit perfectly so I did an exchange. The funny thig is I tried on a pair of 38 in blue boot cut and relaxed fir and they did not fit i.e. too tight. Overall I am very happy with my purchase but can not order on line as I am not sure what I will get size wise too big or too small yet the stores do not carry size 40.Dean

Favorite Denims I own
I've had a pair of 28x30's for a while now and they've seen much use. They are my favorite denims and are a PERFECT FIT. I like my denims not too relaxed and not too tight. I have noticed the fashion trend of denims being made to fit TIGHT with a ridiculous low rise. I absolutely do not like that trend. BUT, these denims right here fit so well, I rate them as my best pair of Denims within the past TEN YEARS!!! To me, it is such a breath of fresh air! And, I was so grateful to learn that BR still has this style in their line and I recently ordered another pair( as my current pair has seen MUCH use), but this time a 28x28 (as this is my true size but 28x30 works too since I don't mind rolling the leg up). This time however my only gripe is the waist is a bit loose and the rise seems a bit low. The waist is about an inch or inch half off, more like a 29 or 29.5 (something I've noticed with all BR pants lately). This problem is easily fixed with the use of a belt, which I would normally wear regardless, so this problem is easily overlooked in the end. I still rate this pants highly since the leg and seat area are still PERFECT! I recommend these to anyone who is a fan of true straight fit denims.

Great looking ...
I am very pleased with these jeans. They fit great and look great as well. I have yet to see any bleeding of color on my shoes or shirts although I have yet to wear them long enough. I am a little concerned though because some one elses review said they kept bleeding and bleeding. I really hope thAt is not the case. Over all they are great and every ... market bleeds so no big downer. Great look and feel.

Current design and quality noticeably worse
It had been a couple years since I bought this particular pair of BR jeans. I read all the reviews regarding the changes made and so I knew in advance I wouldn't be getting a product identical to the one I previously purchased. And unfortunately, as other reviewers have pointed out, the overall quality of these jeans has noticeably declined. Both the inferior quality of the denim and changes to the cut take this current incarnation of the product a step backward. I understand the need, or in some cases simply the inclination, to make changes in order to stay current with fashion trends. But these recent changes have not resulted in a more desirable product. Just one that feels and looks more cheaply made. BR truly had an overall excellent product a couple years ago with these jeans and I urge them to return to the design and quality of materials that made these jeans the favorite of so many people. However, so as not to be completely negative about these jeans, the overall fit is still okay. In my case I did not have an issue with needing to go one waist size down in comparison to the waist size of the previous generation.

Not the same ...
I've been buying these black stone washed straight leg jeans since 2005, and although they underwent some minor changes over the years, they were still easily identifiable as "the same" ... Not the case anymore. Manufacturing has shifted from Macau (China) to Mexico, and the denim is coarse and of lower quality (think The Gap) as is the dye work; you can smell the dye as much as see it! Fake wear markings and pressed wrinkles cover the ... no where near subtle. As for hardware, the rivets are fine, there's the addition of a leather tag which I don't mind, but then there's also a blindingly bright gold button replacing the far more tasteful tarnished steel. These jeans have been my staple as only Banana Republic Straight leg jeans seem to avoid size/fit and excessive aging gimmics. It's too bad they just look like a pair of Gap jeans now.

Straight black stonewashed ...
As a 6'5" guy on the thin side, it's difficult to find jeans/pants that fit properly outside of a Big & Tall store especially when you're not the "&"; and if name brand is important to you, forget about it. My only real criticism is that it's a little tighter in the seat than I would like, but as a white guy with more of a butt than the norm, I am used to this. Overall good product, good quality, good fit.

disappointing
My husband bought these jeans less than 6 months ago, and they already look severely worn, and a lot older than they are. He wears them casually and not day in and day out, so this was disappointing. The quality and color didn't last very long. Thank goodness they were on sale, because we might as well have gotten a pair somewhere cheaper. So far this is our only purchase complaint of products from BR. My womens pair of BR jeans have lasted a lot longer, so maybe it's just the style and color that doesn't last so well.

sizing
I think I was a little naive trying to order jeans online. The pair I received, (though marked with the correct size) were entirely too big in the waist and inseam...by 2-4 inches. I'll just have to go to a retail location. Quality and color seem right...just size issues.

Agree with last three posters
BR's darkwash jeans are the only jeans on the planet that fit me. Not any longer. The waist in now too big, and the fabric isn't nearly as soft as it use to be. Why did they make these changes? Very frustrated and disappointed. And, I tried on different washes and each wash fits differently?! I hope BR is listening to this and goes back to the way things once were. Don't cut corners. I will pay for good quality and a great fit!
Big quality drop in recent version
Agree with all posters who noticed the big quality drop. I LOVED these jeans. When it came time to replace I simply ordered more. Just touching the new pair made it clear the material was heavier/stiffer/courser. Gone was the soft light feel of my old pairs. Even after washing them - still a thicker, poorer quality ... bummed

A modern alternative to blue: a faded wash and subtle whiskering details create a hip, edgy look in our black jean. A straight fit makes it a versatile choice.
