Great Pant at Great PriceI bought 5 pair at 40% off. The new Dawson chino is a great pant. I use them for work and going out. I wear them with dress shirts and ties and with casual shirts. They are comfortable and true to fit all around.
Great pantsMy husband has worn the Dawson pants for years.After reading some reviews about the new Dawson, I was concerned about the fit being different and too snug but we bought a pair and my husband loves them. He is 54 and they look great on him. I bought several more pairs as he wears them for work, going out, everywhere unless he is wearing jeans or a suit. Flattering cut - comfortable and in style.
awesome for low rise, dont let the label scare youI was so skeptical going into the BR store on these chinos due to some of the reviews and the fact that everyone is going to low rise now at days. I was pleasantly surprised that the size was perfect, not tight and a good generous room throughout the thigh and the ancle area but not baggy by any means. A great pant for work or play. I just hope that this carries on to the jean next season. I hated the fact that BR went to only low riise bootcut which was too tight and low for me. Im 6'3" , 6'4" medium built fit but by no means have a CK model torso so I made money on this fit. GOOD JOB BR!
BR Chinos are THE BEST Bar NoneI have been wearing BR chinos for work for the past twenty years. I have found the comfort, fit, and quality unsurpassed in chinos. They last forever, hold their shape, and look stylish. Personally, I prefer the wider leg bottom of the Dawson versus the Gavin. People complain about the subltle changes in design and style over the years but I'm along for the BR chino ride - it has been extremely consistent in quality and fit.
Great gift!I buy these pants for my dad and brother, both of whom are over 6'3". The relaxed fit and durability of the Dawsons cannot be beat. Unlike other chinos that weaken in the knees and rear from bending and use, these last so long. They look great after every wash. I more than get my money's worth from these pants. Thanks, Banana!
Threes PairsWith the addition of the Black Dawson Chinos, I now have three pairs in my closet. I have a large athlete build, so I have never been a fan of pleats,...flat front is the only way to go for me. Most chino pants are way too tight especially around my leg and seat. Banana Republic has a winner. Super fit and great style,...not the baggy chino of the chemestry professor. I wear my Dawson Chinos to work and most recently at Thanksgiing dinner. I have a construction related job that requires me to dress up in an office environment and then sometimes I am out on construction sites. You have a loyal customer with me.
Staple ChinoBR Dawson's have been my staple, wear to work chino for years now and I love them. Roomy in the legs and seat but without being too baggy. True inseam. I typically rotate 3-4 pair at a time and when areas get too thin due to laundring over and over, I come back for more! The only thing I would change would be to beef up the inner pocket fabric. I've experienced a pattern of it being the first thing to go. It's annoying when the pants still look pretty good but the pockets don't work for keys, phone, etc... Overall though, I'm sticking with them!
I have trouble finding pants that fit. I'm a tall cyclist, so I need inseam length as well as room for my thighs without being baggy. These pants are a good length and fit well through the thigh. This pair are a little tighter through the thigh than my other Tall Dawson Chinos, but they work. In addition, they aren't baggy and look sharp, classic and stylish.
Not perfect but pretty goodi wear 28 by 30. Waist is loose and butt is loose but length is perfect. I would rather have a single button closure instead of hook and a button. I ordered the dark moss color and it looks awesome. I just ordered my second pair in charleston brown. I also have a pair of Gavin, straight fit and its butt area is even looser. I should have returned them but I wore them for one day so I couldn't. :(
Old ones are betterI put on an 'old' pair of banana chinos this morning for work and was blown away by the difference. Even at 4+ years old, these pants still look and feel great and have remained the correct length. I have a pair each of the new relaxed fit and straight fit pants. Both of them have shrunk so badly that they're nearly unwearable. All have been cared for just as the older pair. The newer versions feel 'cheaper' to me, as well. Unfortunately, I feel as if I need to find a new store to buy chinos from.
Shrinks 3/4 of an inch on first washIf you are tall and actually need a 36" inseam, do not even bother with these. I have been buying gap khakis for many years and the last ones I bought in Jan '11 shrunk almost an inch. The material was very thin and the zippers broke easily. I sent them back and tried Banana Republic thinking the quality might be better. Although the material is slightly thicker, they shrunk just as much. 2 of the 5 zippers are difficult. The khakis I purchased 3 years ago and thought were a bit too short and needed replacing are still longer than the new ones by over a 1/2inch. This may not seem like a lot, but when you are over 6'7" every little bit counts. I have been disappointed with the quality of just about everything I have purchased from Gap in the past 2 years. I'd really like to see the same quality back in their clothing that I've come to expect from Gap/Banana Republic over the last 20 years.
