Classic chinos
This is a great pair of pants, not too baggy, not too slim. Comfortable. Great for work or casual. One of the few places I can buy 34 x 36 - in a slim fit. Most tall sizes are also ... am not ... just tall.

Banana is great for tall and skinny guys
I have struggled for years trying to find jeans and pants that actually fit me. I am 6'6/6'7 and thin, so ... tall stores don’t fit the bill because they are for tall and heavy guys which I am not. About 8 months ago I was in Banana and I had never bought pants from there because they only go to 34L, i was talking to an associate in the Scottsdale store and they told me just go online and you can get 36L. So it did, and i have never looked back since. I was also impressed by the tall sizes for shirts, this is great. Banana realizes that not everyone is 5'8 in the world and I love it, you guys also have the best deals of any store and I can say I have spent hundreds of dollars in your stores over the past year and plan to as long as you have the deals and tall sizes. Great job!!!!

short person likes the pants
I'm 5'4" with an athletic build (powerlifter) with large thighs, and a smaller (30") waist. It's a ... tight around the thighs and could be a bit more roomy for the hips and crotch but it's not uncomfortable at all. Just my preference. The look and material are great though.

Awesome material in feel and look, just a tad too loose
PROS: - Rich colors (I have both moose brown & charleston brown, both look great) - Great material in feel and quality - Solid construction - Very comfortable. CONS: - Waist is a tad loose (yet not loose enough to order a smaller size) - Legs a little looser/wider than other BR straight fit pants - I wish they were wrinkle free, b/c I hate ironing. BOTTOM LINE: I'm a ... fan of these chinos, and would definitely recommend them.

Gavin Chinos
The Gavin straight leg chinos are a good buy. They are nice looking pants for work or upscale casual events. The one problem I have is the waist ... One pair is right on and the next pair you try on is either too ... too small in the waist. Inconsistent sizing in the waist makes these pants difficult to order online - must try them on to guarantee a ...

I bought this to wear to work -- with my field, it was casual enough to be dressier than the jeans most people wear, but not too formal. I found that it fit well in the waist, but the legs seemed way too baggy. I expected, because it was a straight fit, that it would be slimmer, but it fit worse than a loose fit ... Maybe the proportions were different because I wear ... tall sizes. If it were slimmer, it would have been perfect. I especially loved the softness and quality of the fabric.

Not a ... fan
I just wanted to give this new gavins a try and they dissapointed me. Read the "How does it ... tab" So you know what i'm talking about. ... fan of the taylored slim dress pants though. i'll Keep buying those.

Nice cut-- but too short!
Cut of these pants and fabric are both great--however (and this is a ... however) the pants were about 1/4 inch smaller than the regular BR chino-- they looked like floods on my husband! There are some things in life where every 1/4 counts, and this is one of them!
Just not the same...
What a disappointment! The new fit Dawson pants are way too ... legs. To me, the old pants fit much better. I'm a " ... Man" at 6'4 276 and the pants actually fell off my waist, while the pants leg covered my entire shoe. I think I received a bad pair of pants. So before I start my search for a new brand Khakis, I will try another size.
disaster
i loved my Gavins. i've probably bought 20 pairs over the years. they fit me perfectly. little bit in at the waist. ... through the thighs so i could walk without the pants sticking to me. little taper so i could get a break in the fabric without looking like i was swimming in pantleg. THEN... disaster. i could put up with the softer (cheaper, quicker wearing) fabric, but the fit redesign is horrible. this was a classic ... made for an active man. all of a sudden they bind in the thigh, are loose all over the seat and the waist doesn't ... oh, and my shoes are barely visible. if BR is threatened by Bonobos, please start a Bobobos competitive line. but please please bring back the classic ... Gavin. Until then, I'll be over at J Crew.
Wow, do these pants shrink!
I found them originally in a store, and liked them so much I bought two different colors. Great slacks, exactly what I was looking to buy. Except... 1) The store didn't warn that the length changes a lot with washing, so I ended up returning two pair of the 35x32 size. 2) Stores don't carry 35x34 -- for the first time in my life, I'm categorized as ... tall'. 3) Liked the pants so much I ordered a pair of 35x34 online, but after washing the 34 length pants are too short as well (and this has never happened before) -- watch out shoppers!

Perfect for Athletic guys
I HATE buying pants. I have a small waist, ... (athletic) butt and legs. So, I always end up buying a size too ... get the waist tailored. NOT with these!!! These ... me perfectly. I was so excited that I found these. I bought every color and threw out all of my other work pants. These are the ones for me. I know It's ridiculous that I'm this excited over a pair of pants.....but THEY ... These are perfect for guys that work out or are bodybuilders. Thanks BR...now, don't you dare discontinue these!

I'm on the edge of 6'5" and weigh 215 so I have to do online shopping for clothes. It's a mess because nothing ever fits - flat front ... never worked. The flat front relaxed Dawson ... however, fits. I'm between a 35 and 36 inch waist and the 35 worked. The 36L inseam is a perfect ... Most importantly, the crotch is NOT obscene and they ... through the thigh. They are "dressier" than other chinos in that they have the slide/hook button instead of the traditional button. I purchased two colors: acorn and khaki and they are both true fits. For other ... purchases, "Relaxed" fits work with Banana Republic. I'm just thankful I don't have to wear PLEATS anymore!

Great ... quality of these ... lot better then ones I have purchased online prior. I have finally found a good pair of ...

Comfortable, quality pants let down by a few flaws and inconsistencies
I've got three colors of the Dawson ... I'm quite pleased. I got the Charleston Brown (which is a brown so dark as to verge on charcoal, darker than the photo above), Moose Brown (which is really more of a grayish olive) and Acorn (true to photo, a nice rich British khaki.) The fabric has a nice, heavy weight but is still breathable, so they're suitable for four season wear in Denver. They tend to not hold wrinkles too badly, so they don't look like they've been slept in by noon. The colors are distinctive but not flashy, and pair well with just about every shirt I own. I found the ... perfect; I've got hiker thighs, and the ... pants just don't work for me. They're also comfortable enough to sit at a desk all day - won't ride up in the crotch. I won't rate them that much on ... because your mileage may of course vary. I also like how these have angled pockets, rather than the Gavin's on seam pockets - on seam pockets are great if you're built like a marathon runner, but if you've got an extra 15 pounds or are just built ... they stick out and make you look like you're rocking the birthing hips. A couple of minor quibbles: a double belt loop in the back is pretty necessary and not present. Also, I order 34s and usually get them altered to a 33 inch ish inseam. The acorn and moose brown pairs needed to be altered - the Charleston brown was short enough to wear without alteration. There seems to be substantial variation in length between colors, so try them all on.

These ... nice, but they are a very loose ... through the legs, so be prepared. Nice material and color, very comfortable.

A good work ...
I have a small waist and can only buy ... online. My waist is about 28 inches, but because I run and lift weights, my legs are ... my frame. I need to but a 29 inche waist just to have some room for my legs. The Dawson chinos are great because the waist is true to size and the are a little roomier in the legs. I did think they were a little short, but they are close enough for the length. I wear these to work, but they would be good for casual outings.

Good except...
These ... great except for the ridiculously wide cuffs. They're like bell bottoms. I have literally gotten comments from people asking if bell bottoms are coming back in style. I found this to be really disappointing because I'm a ... guy and have a hard time finding ... well. These ... great except for the swooshing the bottoms do when I walk.

a little dissapointed
First, let me say that i love the banana boot cut pants - unfortunately they seem to be discontinuing them. they were nice and ... thigh, lower rise, and they weren't boot cut to the point of being flared at the bottom, just a nice sized opening at the bottom. so i figured i would try the new dawson as the description sounded similar. i've had dawson pants in the past, they were always too ... rear and thighs, a little tapered on the bottom. these are not as bad, but still a little too ... rear and thigh. I could probably get my tailor to tighten up the rear and legs, but i don't want to spend the extra $ just to experiment. the gavin would probably ... better in the rear and thigh but seem to be tapered a little too much for my tastes. what's the deal with the tapered pants lately? makes people's legs look like sausages. maybe i'm just out of style...

Comfortable, quality pants let down by a few flaws and inconsistenciesI've got three colors of the Dawson ...

Gavin-fit straight chino
$44.99-$59.50 Select colors, now $10.00 off

Great job!!!!

short person likes the pantsI'm 5'4" with an athletic build (powerlifter) with large thighs, and a smaller (30") waist. It's a ... tight around the thighs and could be a bit more roomy for the hips and crotch but it's not uncomfortable at all. Just my preference. The look and material are great though.

Awesome material in feel and look, just a tad too loosePROS: - Rich colors (I have both moose brown & charleston brown, both look great) - Great material in feel and quality - Solid construction - Very comfortable.

Wow, do these pants shrink!I found them originally in a store, and liked them so much I bought two different colors.

Gavin ChinosThe Gavin straight leg chinos are a good buy.

Not a ... fan I just wanted to give this new gavins a try and they dissapointed me. Read the "How does it ... tab" So you know what i'm talking about. ... fan of the taylored slim dress pants though. i'll Keep buying those.

Nice cut-- but too short!Cut of these pants and fabric are both great--however (and this is a ... however) the pants were about 1/4 inch smaller than the regular BR chino-- they looked like floods on my husband! There are some things in life where every 1/4 counts, and this is one of them!
Just not the same...What a disappointment! The new fit Dawson pants are way too ... legs. To me, the old pants fit much better. I'm a " ... Man" at 6'4 276 and the pants actually fell off my waist, while the pants leg covered my entire shoe. I think I received a bad pair of pants. So before I start my search for a new brand Khakis, I will try another size.
disasteri loved my Gavins. i've probably bought 20 pairs over the years. they fit me perfectly. little bit in at the waist. ... through the thighs so i could walk without the pants sticking to me. little taper so i could get a break in the fabric without looking like i was swimming in pantleg. THEN... disaster. i could put up with the softer (cheaper, quicker wearing) fabric, but the fit redesign is horrible. this was a classic ... made for an active man. all of a sudden they bind in the thigh, are loose all over the seat and the waist doesn't ... oh, and my shoes are barely visible. if BR is threatened by Bonobos, please start a Bobobos competitive line. but please please bring back the classic ... Gavin. Until then, I'll be over at J Crew.
Wow, do these pants shrink!I found them originally in a store, and liked them so much I bought two different colors.

Awesome
I am really surprised these pair of chinos would get negative reviews. They fit my rear and thighs perfectly. If anything, most pair of chinos are too tight through the rear and legs. I am 6'3, 245lbs (lean). I guess the extra room (described as baggy by some reviewers) compliment my frame. I do wish more colors and fabrics were available as its really hard to find clothes that have style for my size. J. Who does not have a big and tall. Thanks BR!

Great fit
I searched for a long time to find a ... fits like these do. I purchased a couple pair of boot cut chinos at a Banana outlet store a few years back and they were the perfect fit. I had trouble finding any thing that came close to fitting like those. Banana has offered them again and I couldn't be happier. I like the little looser feel to the leg and the opening isn't too ... true boot cut. Thank you BR for having these pants! I need a few more pair.

Great pants!
I wear 31x30 in all BR pants, jeans and slacks and these fit perfectly as advertised. I love the relaxed fit Dawson chinos but decided to give these pants a shot for a different look and I'll definitely be buying more. They're like a slightly dressier version of the Dawson fit. A lot of reviews mentioned a leg opening that is too big but mine are the same as the Dawson, the only difference between the two pants is the thighs are cut slightly slimmer for a more classic look. These pants work great with my casual dress shoes and boots when you need something slightly cleaner looking than the relaxed Dawson ... don't like the straight fit look of the Gavin pants.

boot cut chino
the pants are good; though they wrinkle very easily, I am very pleased with their cut. I disagree with the other review online here that they are a size bigger than they claim to be; rather, i would say the waist size is consistant in my experience with pants. i was disappointed to find my size in black is not available for some unspecified reason. I do think this site has some major flaws though; i ordered during a sale, and apparently, when there is a hugh volume of orders, some orders just get dropped and nobody gets informed. by the time i figured out my package wasn't coming a pair was sold out; i called the site and they were helpful, but they also told me they would order me a pair that was sold out in a few days, but that never happened. Ive never seen a site this big that doesn't give a rip whether they get my money or not

Excellent fit
Tall guys out there, these pants fit awesome!! I am 6'6" 250lbs and was getting tired of visiting a 1000 stores looking for pants that only prepared me for the flood. The 36 length is true to size and the boot cut makes them fit nicely over a pair of boots. The ... legs dont get caught up on the tongue of your boots. I probly wouldnt recommend them if you plan on wearing low cut dress shoes though. The boot cut is too big for them and they would be dragging on the ground. Just bought 2 more pair. Love them!!!

Perfect Casual!
As some others have noted, they've completely redesigned the Boot Cut fit style, not much of a redesign but the one thing i first noticed was the bottom opening. They're "wider" than previous generation boot cut bottoms, which to me is GREAT!. This is what true Boot Cut openings are. The fit through out the pants are great, true to size, and most of all.. no more TIGHT LEG OPENINGS anymore. Others claim to prefer "less of an opening" but, if you wanted tighter openings, you could go for other styles. This "wider" boot cut opening has finally had me ordering a pair of each color. I do own last years model, and year before that, and was not too ... fan of, "SKINNY LEG TIGHT BOOT CUT OPENINGS".

The perfect pants!
I've been looking for a decent pair of chinos for years. With the current horrific trend for skinny jeans it's refreshing to find a pair of bootcut pants like these. My wife said -"They're the best fitting pants I've seen you wear!". If you were born before 1980 you'll love these pants, they're a true boot cut. Reading the reviews it's clear that those who didn't grow up wearing a bootcut see these as too wide at the bottom but they are far from flared. They sit just behind the start of the toes of your feet when wearing shoes. If you own a pair of skinny jeans these aren't for you but if you're sick and tired of shopping for pants and not being able to fit your legs into anything because you actually have leg muscles they're perfect. My only criticism is they run a little big. I normally wear a 33/34. I first ordered the 32/34 and they were too long. The second pair I ordered 32/32 and they fit perfectly. I'm going to be ordering another 2 pairs - they are so versatile - great for the office with a shirt, and dressed down with a t shirt good for a night out. They even look great with flip flops.

SO comfortable!
These pants are extremely lightweight and very breathable which is what I needed and wanted. I work overseas in Afghanistan, and it gets hot here. These pants are perfect for this environment. I do have an office job over here, and they are a great fit for that setting as well. Overall, great quality and a great buy. The only problem I have is that the openings on the bottom were a little bigger than I anticipated, but it's not a big problem at all.

How they fit for what body type!
So I own a pair of the previous boot cut and as everyone has stated they are a better cut, style and fit. However after the conundrum caused by reading the other reviews regarding how much the new boot cut sucks, I decided I would find out for myself. Truth is, they are not near as bad as the reviews. Here is the deal, if you are athletic built with decent to muscular legs they will fit and look great. If you have no thigh, then yes they will appear big and the boot leg open will definitely appear large. For reference, I am 6'2" 210lbs very athletic built. My legs match my upper body both being muscular with low body fat. My waist is around 31-32" I ordered two pair of 34/34. The waist is a little big as expected but I always order a larger waist to give me a little more leg room. They are cut true to size and fit great with no alterations needed. The boot cut leg open looks good and the fit on my thigh is perfect, not too tight and not loose. Very pleased and will order more in the future! Bottom line... If you have no thigh/quad maybe they will look to big but for you guys that are thick or muscular, give them a try! Also, BR please bring back the pocket from the previous style and a simple single button for the fly will work fine!

I was a big fan of the Dawson style like 10 years ago. That was the best style to me. I bought these pants with hopes that they would be the same. They are not! I bought 3 different colors, 2 were the same size and 1 was bigger. You just never know what your going to get with Banana. I have never seen such size variation among different styles and items. Overall, I think that the length was shorter than expected and the rise is really low. Again, its hard to say heads or tails because of the size variation among the different colors. I would like something bootcut with a higher rise. I guess you will have to buy a pair to see for yourself, as we all have different sized bodies and taste.

tried them all
I purchased from[...] & BR, to try them both. I love the BR pair but even for me the bottom opening was to big. I wear boots all day and allways wear boot cut kakis. the best I have ever owned were [...] and they do not make them any more ( 3 years and they are just now falling apart). [...] by far the better for me. these pants are very flattering and would be all I bought if they were a 1" - 1/2" smaller at the opening. the washed would be nice to have back with the button and all.

I guess you will have to buy a pair to see for yourself, as we all have different sized bodies and taste.

tried them allI purchased from[...] & BR, to try them both.

I guess you will have to buy a pair to see for yourself, as we all have different sized bodies and taste.

tried them allI purchased from[...] & BR, to try them both.

Very nice!
I am a little bit on the ... size, and I worry about the ... but BR offers me exactly what I need. This relax ... go with so many colors, and can dress me up or down in not time. Very nice!

Great Chino''s
the ... great, they ... nicely and look just as good, my only dislke about the ... opening at the bottom of the ... its a bit ... (large opening).

Great ... quality of these ... lot better then ones I have purchased online prior.

There seems to be substantial variation in length between colors, so try them all on.

nice ...
These ... nice, but they are a very loose ... through the legs, so be prepared.

Great ... quality of these ... lot better then ones I have purchased online prior. I have finally found a good pair of ...
