big and tall Gavin chinos - reviews

Nice pant for slim, tall menThese pants fit my 6'5 husband perfectly. The style is modern and appropriate for his semi casual workplace. The fabric is of medium weight and washed well. I hung them to dry to avoid shrinkage. We are very pleased to find pants in "tall" with out being ... Tall"or styled for older gentlemen. We will be ordering more in the future.

Love itSo I prefer my pants a little loose...i'm big and have big thick thighs and it's difficult finding pants that are comfortably loose without being insanely baggy. These are it! This is what i thought i was getting when i ordered the Dawson ... - which is waaay too baggy. The Gavin ... phenomenal. I now own 6 pairs...i plan on putting a permanent crease on a couple of them just to make them a LITTLE bit dressier for work. Truth be told, though, they can be worn as is right to work. Bottom line. LOVE THESE PANTS!

GavinThese Gavin Chinos are great, ... look great and are super comfortable. I use to wear dockers which do not have a good fit for me at all. I wear these in the office and to go out casual and ... do the job. I just purchase 3 new pair black, wood ash and charlston brown the lenghts are perfect for me since i am on the short side so the 30 inseam is perfect. For the price you cant go wrong.

Go to PantsI started with three pairs of the Dawson Chinos last year. I liked them so much I decided to add the Gavin straight fit to my wardrobe. I now wear the acorn and the British khaki(?) color on a weekly basis. They look great with dress shirts, polos, and basic tees. The fit is obviously slightly narrower than the Dawson relaxed fit, but they are in no way a super slim fit. I'm 5'10" 150 lbs and have just enough room in all the important areas for the ups- and downs- of retail work. My favorite feature of the Gavin pants are the on seam pockets. I now wish all my pants had this.

Much Better Than Some SuggestI was eager to try these, given the range of comments on this page. I was wondering what the fuss was about...still not sure. Some got defective pants, it appears. This happens, and the selected comments here do not tell us if quality has changed or not. Based on my own experience (involving two pairs and multiple washings) these are quality chinos with a modern style. They may or may not fit all tastes, but there is no "new coke" style drama here in my opinion. I wear 33/32 pants across a range of brands, and these fit great right out of the box. They might shrink a bit more than some, but washing did not change my overall assessment. The lighter material is unique, but something of a BR signature at this point, as is the lower rise. The lower rise might put some off, but the result is a sharp, fitted look. I like cotton pants that I can wear all day and not slouch home like I barely survived, and these fit the bill. The mismatch between my comments and others might give more credence to quality concerns. Transition problems? My bottom line is that these are worth a try. Scanning these reviews on the initial usefulness sort gives you a string of strong critiques. For whatever reasons, I do not think these comments fit the product. I think these new pants will be a hit once they get past this rough start.

experience with Gavin ... I purchase 2 pair of these Gavin pants 34/30 in Stone color and Britsh Khaki they both fit perfect and I love them , but the reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is because I tried 2 other colors Black and Moose Brown and neither one fit the same! to tight on waist and too short on the Lenght. Quality control needs to take a look at these post because they are loosing Money on Customers ... time. I wear these mostly at work in the office.

Be careful of inconsistent sizingOrdered two Gavin pant colors (acorn and moose brown? - i believe these were the color names). Both 33x34. The acorn fit well; however, the moose brown were far too large. I actually got two pair of the moose browns - one pair was extremely ... both in the waist and length. They were more like a 36x36 and extremely baggy in the pant legs. The other pair was still way off, but not nearly as bad. Obviously they both got returned. I purchased two 33x34 acorns at my local store, they fit great. Also: the acorns are actually darker than they appear online. They look great, and are an improvement over the previous khaki color offered by BR. However the moose brown looks kind olive green in certain light. Didn't like it.

pants too shortI really like the gavin straight cut pants. I have 6 pairs and ordered some more before a work trip. The online deliver was good and onetime. however i packed them after i took the tags off and arrived houston and went to put them on and they were too short. 36x34 is my normal size on the other 6 pairs. i held the new pair next to my previous pair and the new pair was at least 4 to 6 inches shorter than my other pair. It appeared that the new pants were mis labeled. Luckily I am staying at the houston galleria so on the weekend I walked to the banana republic store and showed the manager the problem. He quickly apologized and swapped them out for a proper pair with no tags and no receipt which i appreciated very much.. a painless return and swap.. I will continue to buy more BR online and love the Gavins

VERY DisappointedI hate to write a negative review as I'm a loyal customer of BR but I could not have been more disappointed in these pants. I will admit... the sizing is going to play a role "perhaps" ... but I got my usual 34x34 delivered yesterday and they HAD to have been more like a size 36x36. It was ridiculous. The thing is... it's not just the sizing was, of course, WAY off, but they are the baggiest pants I have tried on since maybe 10 or 12 years ago! The rise was waaaay too long and around the hips and thighs, they fit more like a pair of classic Dockers or something to that effect as they bunched out and most certainly not straight or fitted whatsoever. My favorite is usually their boot cut chinos which.. if you pick out the right one's, are nice and slim all the way down with "just about" the perfect leg opening... more of a straight than flared. I was expecting something at least sort of similar but with a more narrow leg all the way down. Let me just say that "baggy" and "extremely tapered" are not a flattering fit. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and try a smaller size but I am not pleased whatsoever with these. I just hope it was the particular pair that I received. But then again, Banana needs to do something to get their sizing more consistent. This is not good business and whatever they need to do to fix this, they need to get it done. In my opinion too, they need to distance themselves from their other brands like GAP, Old Navy, etc... I never liked the marketing approach they went to a few years ago. I don't care how ... successful they are, if you're going to market to a mid higher level target, I think they need to show a little individualism. Ok, sorry to rant.. I'm just not pleased by the "cookie cutter" products they have spitting out. They are nice and heavy weight no doubt, which I give them credit for... but fit and consistency should be their main objective.
Moose Brown? Must Have Gotten A Bad PairI don't know what was wrong with this pair. I ordered two Gavins, one in Khaki and one in Moose Brown...this is for the Moose Brown. I had to order from the web because of the length, so I got both at the 32/36 size. The Brown ones were at least a full inch shorter than the Khaki. I had someone else hold up the waists and have a pretty unbelievable picture of how short the one is. It also appeared to be Green instead of a shade of brown. In fact, when I took it back into the store to return it, before I could finish telling my story to the clerk, she said those are Olive. I said, "I know, but look at the tag. It says Moose Brown." Her response, "Oh no. I'd say those are Olive." Unfortunately the awesome Acorn color I wanted to get instead apparently is no longer made (or wouldn't be made anymore) in 32/36. The material was still a great material like the Gavins have, and the waist fit great, and I liked everything about it except a) it didn't fit; and b) the color wasn't at all what I thought I was getting. The Khaki ones were superb, though.
time for a changei wish they would go back to the old gavins. i don't care for this version. the fit is too loose in the thigh and, regardless of what it says about it being a straight leg, tapered at the bottom. i do like some of the colors, particularly the blue stone and moose brown. i miss the thyme taupe and dillweed though. those colors went with so many different outfits because they weren't too light or too dark. at the very least, br should go back to the drawing board and design a better pair of chinos. get rid of the lower rise, straighten the fit, and bring back some of the old colors (in addition to the ones they have now).

The Khaki ones were superb, though.
time for a changei wish they would go back to the old gavins. i don't care for this version. the fit is too loose in the thigh and, regardless of what it says about it being a straight leg, tapered at the bottom. i do like some of the colors, particularly the blue stone and moose brown. i miss the thyme taupe and dillweed though. those colors went with so many different outfits because they weren't too light or too dark. at the very least, br should go back to the drawing board and design a better pair of chinos. get rid of the lower rise, straighten the fit, and bring back some of the old colors (in addition to the ones they have now).

big and tall Gavin chinos - reviews
