big and tall dawson chinos
New relaxed Dawson fit chino
$49.99-$59.50

... Tall review
I'm on the edge of 6'5" and weigh 215 so I have to do online shopping for clothes. It's a mess because nothing ever fits - flat front pants never worked. The flat front relaxed Dawson ... however, fits. I'm between a 35 and 36 inch waist and the 35 worked. The 36L inseam is a perfect fit. Most importantly, the crotch is NOT obscene and they fit through the thigh. They are "dressier" than other chinos in that they have the slide/hook button instead of the traditional button. I purchased two colors: acorn and khaki and they are both true fits. For other ... Tall purchases, "Relaxed" fits work with Banana Republic. I'm just thankful I don't have to wear PLEATS anymore!

Perfect for Athletic guys
I HATE buying pants. I have a small waist, big (athletic) butt and legs. So, I always end up buying a size too big and get the waist tailored. NOT with these!!! These fit me perfectly. I was so excited that I found these. I bought every color and threw out all of my other work pants. These are the ones for me. I know It's ridiculous that I'm this excited over a pair of pants.....but THEY FIT! These are perfect for guys that work out or are bodybuilders. Thanks BR...now, don't you dare discontinue these!

new ones are good
I like the new dawson fit. I never used the previous chinos since they were too baggy and made me look like i was 10 years older. The new fit sits perfectly at the waist and is "slim" enough that I now look more like my age. The new fabric also looks and feels good. Good job BR.my only complaint: why dont they have a 30waist 34 length. I am now using 30w, 32 length and it is too short while 31w by 34 length is too ... waist. Hope you bring out these chinos in 30w by 34 length.

Great pants. The quality of these pants is a lot better then ones I have purchased online prior. I have finally found a good pair of ... tall pants!

Great pants. The quality of these pants is a lot better then ones I have purchased online prior. I have finally found a good pair of ... tall pants!

Comfortable, quality pants let down by a few flaws and inconsistencies
I've got three colors of the Dawson ... I'm quite pleased. I got the Charleston Brown (which is a brown so dark as to verge on charcoal, darker than the photo above), Moose Brown (which is really more of a grayish olive) and Acorn (true to photo, a nice rich British khaki.) The fabric has a nice, heavy weight but is still breathable, so they're suitable for four season wear in Denver. They tend to not hold wrinkles too badly, so they don't look like they've been slept in by noon. The colors are distinctive but not flashy, and pair well with just about every shirt I own. I found the fit to be perfect; I've got hiker thighs, and the straight fit pants just don't work for me. They're also comfortable enough to sit at a desk all day - won't ride up in the crotch. I won't rate them that much on fit, because your mileage may of course vary. I also like how these have angled pockets, rather than the Gavin's on seam pockets - on seam pockets are great if you're built like a marathon runner, but if you've got an extra 15 pounds or are just built big they stick out and make you look like you're rocking the birthing hips. A couple of minor quibbles: a double belt loop in the back is pretty necessary and not present. Also, I order 34s and usually get them altered to a 33 inch ish inseam. The acorn and moose brown pairs needed to be altered - the Charleston brown was short enough to wear without alteration. There seems to be substantial variation in length between colors, so try them all on.

A good work pant
I have a small waist and can only buy pants online. My waist is about 28 inches, but because I run and lift weights, my legs are ... my frame. I need to but a 29 inche waist just to have some room for my legs. The ... chinos are great because the waist is true to size and the are a little roomier in the legs. I did think they were a little short, but they are close enough for the length. I wear these to work, but they would be good for casual outings.

Why change it?
I have been buying these pants for a few years now. They have been the best Chinos I have ever owned. Why has BR changed the waist and rise of this pant? These where perfect for the working adult. Now they have lowered the waist and rise of the pant and made them for the teenagers and college kids. Most of us working adults can't and don't want to wear low waist & rise pants to work or anywhere else for that matter. I will not buy this pant anymore. BR should just make another pant to appeal to the younger customers and bring back the original ... BR please bring back my favorite ... Chinos.

a little dissapointed
First, let me say that i love the banana boot cut pants - unfortunately they seem to be discontinuing them. they were nice and straight in the thigh, lower rise, and they weren't boot cut to the point of being flared at the bottom, just a nice sized opening at the bottom. so i figured i would try the new dawson as the description sounded similar. i've had dawson pants in the past, they were always too big in the rear and thighs, a little tapered on the bottom. these are not as bad, but still a little too big in the rear and thigh. I could probably get my tailor to tighten up the rear and legs, but i don't want to spend the extra $ just to experiment. the gavin would probably fit better in the rear and thigh but seem to be tapered a little too much for my tastes. what's the deal with the tapered pants lately? makes people's legs look like sausages. maybe i'm just out of style...
Shrinks 3/4 of an inch on first wash
If you are tall and actually need a 36" inseam, do not even bother with these. I have been buying gap khakis for many years and the last ones I bought in Jan '11 shrunk almost an inch. The material was very thin and the zippers broke easily. I sent them back and tried Banana Republic thinking the quality might be better. Although the material is slightly thicker, they shrunk just as much. 2 of the 5 zippers are difficult. The khakis I purchased 3 years ago and thought were a bit too short and needed replacing are still longer than the new ones by over a 1/2inch. This may not seem like a lot, but when you are over 6'7" every little bit counts. I have been disappointed with the quality of just about everything I have purchased from Gap in the past 2 years. I'd really like to see the same quality back in their clothing that I've come to expect from Gap/Banana Republic over the last 20 years.
The ... has changed!!!!
This is the first clothing I have ever bought online and I'm hugely disapointed. I have many pairs of Banana Republic ... Chinos and they are great. I assumed the sizing would be the same but something has drastically changed with the ... got my 3 pairs of pants in the mail and put them on I felt like i was wearing wideleg pants from the early 70's. The biggest variable with online shopping is the fit, you can't try them on like you can in the store. Why would they change the cut so drastically and still call it a ... new Dawsons are huge in comparison to the old cut.

The fabric has a nice, heavy weight but is still breathable, so they're suitable for four season wear in Denver.

Why would they change the cut so drastically and still call it a ... new Dawsons are huge in comparison to the old cut.

big and tall Dawson chinos - reviews

... Tall review I'm on the edge of 6'5" and weigh 215 so I have to do online shopping for clothes.

Perfect for Athletic guysI HATE buying pants. Thanks BR...now, don't you dare discontinue these!

new ones are goodI like the new dawson fit.

I have finally found a good pair of ... tall pants!

Why would they change the cut so drastically and still call it a ... new Dawsons are huge in comparison to the old cut.

big and tall Dawson chinos - reviews

... Tall review I'm on the edge of 6'5" and weigh 215 so I have to do online shopping for clothes.

Perfect for Athletic guysI HATE buying pants. Thanks BR...now, don't you dare discontinue these!

new ones are goodI like the new dawson fit.

I have finally found a good pair of ... tall pants!

Comfortable, quality pants let down by a few flaws and inconsistenciesI've got three colors of the Dawson ...

A good work pantI have a small waist and can only buy pants online.

Why change it?I have been buying these pants for a few years now. Chinos.
